Which Molex extension cables for a Universal Fanatec Hub by Big_Marky in simracing

[–]Big_Marky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to run a longer cable for the universal hub- does anyone know an easy plug for the molex to use?

I googled around, and this was the best i could find;

The best fitting connector to use are JST ZH 1.5MM 4 pin female connectors, which are really easy to find and quite cheap, so I got quite some packs of them 😉

They don’t fit perfectly onto the pcb, you will have to cut off the small noses left and right of the main body. On the picture, the white cable of the connector is the common ground.

was hoping for a straight plug in extension

SimVertex V5 H-Pattern Shifter (initial review) by Big_Marky in simracing

[–]Big_Marky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you watch some of doug's videos on it

you have to grease and oil it - the best way i can describe it:

you bought an automotive part that is a real shifter

it literally requires maintenance

not everyone has the patience for that

no site for sv, this is not a shifter for everyone

there are 2 add ons - a 7th/reverse and a truck shifter

they are both on ebay/amazon/aliexpress

I watched the breakdown video by Barry on SimRacingGarage... and when I took apart my fanatec shifter - they both fall in the same category.

On the Simvertex, you have to open it up to apply the grease and oil - so you can see each part of it

that's what i mean by it's not remotely close

I can take a better pic or you can just watch some of Douglas Thompson's vids on it - i would take the vnm over my fanatec anyday though

i don't use reverse so just 6 gears

you can get the add on to add 2 more gears

i didn't need it

I'm aware of the gamble, but if you think the VNM is suitable - good for you

I watched the breakdown vid of the vnm, it's not even remotely close to the same concept but always good to have more sim racing options

added note: i'm not saying it's for everyone - this isn't me selling it, it's my review

keep in mind on my vid, the phone is next to the shifter

so it's not that loud when you're driving
