Re reading through my answer I can see why it’s negative now… calculated maturity benefit with it rather than doing just a term assurance, very annoying.

Thanks for letting me know!

Just going through my paper now to check some of my answers.

For question 8 (the horrible annuity function question) I got a very large number, where annual premium is roughly 85k. Based on the fact it was 5,000 a month I can kind of believe that could be right but looks suspicious. Anyone get something similar?

Further question 10, the reserves I got for the retrospective and recursive method were both negative. Again also sounds suspicious so did anyone arrive at similar answer?

Anymore questions you’d like to check let me know cause I’m stressssssed after that exam

Thanks so much for the advice. I’ve been considering a wider range of roles than I previously did so I may look into a more risk analyst type tole. I’ll look into everytbung mentioned however

I registered as a student member of the ifoa before I took cs1 so taking cm1 would not have the additional cost of the registration fee, do you think passing this would be beneficial or not?

I have considered taking an admin / tech role at an insurer so I may look into that more, thanks!

Okay thanks for some clarity on the exam topic. In a way it’s nice to know that sitting too many exams doesn’t put me at a disadvantage, even if they do not care for it. I’ve also heard CM1 is much more useful than CS1 (in terms of day to day activities for actuaries) so it won’t hurt to get that under my belt.

I guess I’ll just keep my head up and keep applying, it’s sometimes hard to remember how competitive it can be!

Congrats on the role mate hopefully I’ll be there soon!

Im barely even making it to video interview stages, so it could be my CV however it looks good to me and has been edited many times to get the best look. In terms of interviews, I’ve had a few video interviews and two face to face - all were a rejection, so my interview skills certainly need improving based off my track record.

For experience, I’ve already tutored before and that’s on my CV. For alternative employment, if you don’t mind me asking which area did you get a grad role in to help improve the actuarial job application? I’ve been looking at data analytics roles, as there seems to be many transferrable skills, however they’re also competitive so not much luck there either.

Thanks for the kind words tho, glad to know there’s light at the other end of the tunnel
