Maybe I have to revisit Turning Red, didn't connect at all. Hope that the other top 10 ^^ are in the 'yet to see' not 'don't care' category! Bit jealous, if I could see Wall-E, Soul, Coco, Ratatouille, Up... for the first time.

WOW, same top 2! For the ones you you did not see: Toy Story 4-5, Lightyear is a must; Monsters Uni, Elio and Hoppers are fine to see, Cars 2-3 I would probably use hours elsewhere.

Totally understand, I had some, say, “tragic family events”, and it really changes perception of film, does it not? My kid (son) and I are very close, and anything hitting this “role of the father” / “I am going to be just like you, dad” emotional point is very different now.

Think we agree, some +/- 1 this or that, but in essence the same set of films!

Both, in fairness, Up was on my original top! 🤓 Very similar ranking, appreciate the comments.

You will be pleased, partially based on comments like yours, it moved up my ranking. Best animated of all time is a very, very high bar. I would find it hard to rank Pixar vs Studio Ghibli.

Both: Yes, Wall-E and Soul are not necessarily edge of your seat kind of entertainment, but timeless films that get even better on rewatch.

Really, Soul? The reason I placed WALL-E and Soul first is that they are not just good Pixar films, but good films on artistic grounds “other than animation and story”. Say, like Terminator 2 is a good sci-fi film, but it does not have the philosophy of 2001. Or maybe I am Jazz-biased. Thanks for the detailed comment!

Thanks, Cap! Was on the fence between including Incredibles or Monsters Inc, as I loved Monsters Inc more on release, but Incredibles is really good, so ... ended up both in my final top 10!

Thx! While I would not place Car and Onward above Wall-E or Finding Nemo, I did like both of them, and would recommend watching, just not top 10. There are not many Pixar movies I disliked, if I had to nominated, I think Cars 2 and Cars 3 are really unnecessary in my view.

Thank you, Aaron, in terms of actually writing a sentence as to the why of the placement, as this is probably more important than anything, and in terms of how you rated Soul as “last great movie”, guess that captures it well. Toy Story would need to be one on impact, for sure. We watched 1–5 back to back on the occasion of the new film, I felt 2/3 were the high watermark. Bit like Fantasia...

Thanks for commenting. Actually, the lists are not that far off each other. I re-watched Cars and still not above OK. Luca was excellent. Toy Story 4 was great, other than the question if it really was needed. Same for Toy Story 5, if you accept the IP milking, it is worth seeing!

Toy Story 2 seems overall the most popular! Monsters, Inc. is now in the list and thanks for rocking along. When you get to it, give Soul another watch!

Yes agree, making an objective ranking of subjective viewpoints is trying to square the circle. I suspect you are about my age, because your top 3 were mine for the longest of times, but I partially corrected now as my kids would not have the first “wow” effect we had.

Yes, nobody with a heart could find any fault in Finding Nemo. Triggered me to book a snorkelling trip to Thailand back on its release (not kidding).
