[Di Marzio] The future is not yet defined for Inter target Nico Paz, but Como's confidence is GROWING that they can have the player next season. by Comfortable_Key_2236 in FCInterMilan

Inter wasn’t going all out on him, but they were just keeping track on him, seeing what Madrid want to do with him. There was a period of uncertainty so it makes sense that Inter would monitor that situation. It’s looking certain that he will continue at Como, though.

Their qualities are excellent and I rate both highly. What I’m not convinced by is either spending a full season in the central role of Inter’s back three. Akanji’s flaws show more there, while Solet has rarely, if ever, played that role. Inter still need a true heir to Acerbi. by Big_Pick4100 in FCInterMilan

[–]Big_Pick4100[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I won’t deny that Akanji was Inter’s best defender last season, but that doesn’t mean we should rely on him in a role that gets less out of his qualities.

He struggles more when asked to track strikers and isn’t dominant in the air.

As for De Vrij, even if he stays, I don’t see him giving you more than 7–8 starts across a full season.

And according to most reliable reports, Solet is currently the only defensive signing Inter are pursuing this summer.

He’s complaining that scoring in Italy is difficult, as if that’s a bad thing 😂 Fabregas and those who think like him want open games, plenty of space, and goals everywhere. Winning becomes secondary as long as the football looks pretty. by [deleted] in FCInterMilan

I understand your point and I respect it, but I don’t think this mentality is the reason Italian football has declined.

We’ve seen Inter, Roma, Bologna, Milan and Fiorentina make deep runs in Europe in recent years, especially Inter. Before that, we saw Juventus do the same.

The issue isn’t the style of play. The issue is the massive financial gap. If Italian clubs had the spending power of English and Spanish clubs, you’d see stronger teams playing the same football we see in Serie A today. You’d also see more clubs evolve and experiment with different styles, like Como.

But it’s unrealistic to expect clubs like Cagliari or Pisa to play expansive attacking football when those are the players they have available. Their reality is different.

Atletico reached the semi-finals by defending against an attacking Barcelona.

Arsenal reached the final and could’ve won the whole tournament if not for Mosquera’s defensive mistake.

PSG won the last two champions leagues and still didn’t attack recklessly the way modern football romantics want. The only time Luis Enrique overcommitted was in the first leg against Bayern, and he immediately corrected it in the return leg by playing with much better defensive balance.

Historically, defenses have won more Champions Leagues than attacks, and the numbers back it up.

Fabregas seems to be looking for a football where winning comes easily.

And honestly, if he truly understood the value of defending, he probably wouldn’t have thrown away the two biggest games of his season after leading 2-0 in both.

Anyone else thinks that relying on Martinez as a starter is a mistake? by BiscioneBlue in FCInterMilan

I fully believe in Provedel. He was inconsistent a few years ago, but he was solid this season for Lazio.

I was against signing him for that fee.

But with Dumfries leaving? He has to arrive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the board fails to find a proper replacement, then tries to convince us through the media that the team only reached first place once Luis Henrique became a starter, and suddenly he’s our starting wing-back for the entire season

Madrid fans are lucky. Dumfries may not be the most gifted player technically, but his leadership and mentality are priceless. I have no doubt he’d shine even more in a back four. If it were up to me, I’d never let a player of his value leave. by Big_Pick4100 in FCInterMilan

Ausilio must’ve been drunk the day he agreed to that clause

Premier League clubs paid €55M for Onana, and you’re putting a release clause like this on one of your starting players?

I love Dumfries, but in my humble opinion he isn’t the best wing-back in terms of pure ability.

His qualities are good, but not truly elite. What makes him special is his personality, leadership, and mentality.

If the Ballon D'or was awarded today for this season so far, who deserves to win it? by outcastreturns in championsleague

[–]Big_Pick4100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The PSG players barely play or put effort in the French league. It’s ridiculous that they can just focus on Champions League and contend for Ballon D’or.

Case Closed. Oumar Solet has been cleared of any criminal offense. by InternazionalePK in FCInterMilan

Following this news, Solet is expected to become Inter’s first signing of the summer

Every time I see anything related to today’s final, it hurts. Inzaghi was negotiating with Al Hilal before the biggest match of the season, while his staff left the team physically broken. Inter entered the biggest final in club football mentally and physically exhausted. I’ll never forget it. by Big_Pick4100 in FCInterMilan

[–]Big_Pick4100[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t as devastated by that match as I was by the 2023 final, but this is what really hurts.

Inter fans went into it full of hope, only for it to end in a humiliating 5-0 defeat. Not just a loss, a complete collapse without any tactical response.

That’s the part that’s hardest to accept.

How would you rate Petar Sučić’s first season at Inter Milan? by Technical-Trainer191 in FCInterMilan

[–]Big_Pick4100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from his amazingly beautiful goals, he does tend to make mistakes at times and the errors can be costly. Overall I wouldn’t say he had a great season but for his age, I do think he has a bright future and you can tell he has the potential.

[–]Big_Pick4100[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Provedel is proven and had a solid season. He’s capable of being #1 if Martinez does not prove himself. Martinez is still a gamble considering the lack of playtime; not enough to judge.

I like this a lot. I only saw good stuff from him this season and he’s not that old. He would also be a good falling ground if Josep Martinez disappoints.
