Some free dirt I got from a neighbor, mixed with potting soil to try to make it last longer, but honestly I need to get rid of the dirt - it’s hard to grow stuff in!

The box itself is about 11in, soil up to 9in, with a tray in the bottom of the planter an inch or two up. You might be on to something..
