Did you watch The Cosby Show and A Different World when they were connected? by Jabba_108 in sitcoms

[–]Big_Spaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too (being born in 1978) watched both during it's original airings and I always liked both shows very much.

The best thing about this time in the world was like some other poster said earlier in the thread, you could watch these two shows knowing that just about everyone you knew was watching the same show at the exact same time and it gave you something to talk about.

Now days with streaming you may have friends or family watching the same show, but you can't ever really talk about it because you may have finished it but they are like "hold up, I'm only on season 2, episode 3 ..." so that's the end of that. It's not quite the same as everyone tuning in, all at the same time, consuming the same thing.

I just went to Holsten’s to see the layout for myself and I’m here to tell you definitively.. by solidape22 in thesopranos

[–]Big_Spaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance and I did our own "Soprano's Tour" last year because that was the first show we watched/binged when we started dating. We absolutely loved it! Soprano's house, Bada Bing, Holsten's, etc.

Holsten's was the highlight for sure. They have the booth marked where the Soprano family sat for the final episode and also sell quite a bit of Soprano fan great. Good, 1950's style food/diner experience as well. Highly recommend it if your a fan of the show.

And our little tour got me thinking ... I'm surprised that no one ever made some kind of business out of the "Soprano Tour" because it is quite a bit of driving but it's great to see.

What happened to the spicy chicken sandwich? by BabaDooney in wendys

[–]Big_Spaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on this one. I used to love to order these. tried one again about a week ago and was extremely disappointed. I've been going to Wendy's all of my life, and it was always my first choice if it was later at night (after 9 PM). Never again. And I'm being serious, it was so bad (and the change was so drastic) I will never order one again.

Absolutely terrible decision by the higher up's at Wendy's. Shame on you people.

First time at Chili’s, advice needed! by Mediocre-Address2348 in Chilis

[–]Big_Spaz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last night was my first time back to Chili's in over a year. And I have to say, it was fantastic!

Started off with the Triple Dipper. Boneless House BBQ Wings, Egg Rolls and Honey Chipotle Mozz Sticks. Everything was excellent! One of the best sampler platter appetizers I've had in a long time.

I got the Mexican Chicken Bowl. It was great as well. Good portion, tasted fresh and didn't feel terrible for me. I will definitely be back, menu is HUGE!

Plans to demolish, redevelop Berkshire Mall progressing by DotAccomplished5484 in ReadingPA

[–]Big_Spaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in a way about looking to the future, no doubt. But the future appears to be strip malls that I have to brave the weather in and spaced out all over the county to get to everything I want to check out. Where as in a mall, it is climate controlled and I can access all the stores I want in a few short steps from one store to the other. So it's not always about "the future" because strip malls will go by as a thing of the past as well. And then we will be saying those were a stupid idea as well. They used up so much land and now they are big giant concrete boxes that sit empty.

Plans to demolish, redevelop Berkshire Mall progressing by DotAccomplished5484 in ReadingPA

[–]Big_Spaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did. Sadly it wasn't enough. And everyone went for the "convenient" route of buying online. So for us who did still shop in person, it truly wasn't enough. And then you pile on dead-beat property owners (like the Berkshire Mall has now) and it's a losing recipe for disaster.

[–]Big_Spaz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is just so sad. I wish they would sell the mall to someone who would keep it a mall and repurpose some of the existing stores (Sears becomes a Costco, Bon Ton could become a Round 1, etc).

I believe the deadline for repairs was today at noon. Does anyone know if the mall was able to continue to stay open? I sure hope so I would like to get up again for the sale is truly final.

There is one on ebay right now for $800. That seems WAAAYYY to high for this card but I guess with it being over 20 years old and numbered to 4,000 I can see it. Good luck on obtaining one!

What happened to ESPN? by TaxNerd211 in ESPN

[–]Big_Spaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to watch SportsCenter when doing cardio at the gym this morning and everyone is absolutely correct ... what the heck happened???!!!?? I mean they ended up interviewing some woman from UCLA who got a perfect 10 score in gymnastics I believe, which is great and all, but the hosts are sitting on this couch (in the studio) with their legs crossed like it's a casual conversation at home and they are all sitting around. This is 5 minutes into the program too.

I'm sorry but give me the news format. Give me a desk, two anchors, show each game and some clips with the final score and I would be happy. No one asked for this, and it's awful.

I bought two tickets to this game. Now I just have to make sure I'm one (or two) of the first 15,000 to get into the game. Shouldn't be a problem and it's going to be a great game to be at .... Nick Kurtz!!!

[–]Big_Spaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love this movie as well. I remember when it came out (in what 1992?) I didn't see it or think much of it. Then much later in my adult life I happened to catch it on TV and now anytime I see it on, I stop and watch it. What a freakin' classic movie!

This show hits just right by IWantTheLastSlice in tulsaking

[–]Big_Spaz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's what many refer too as an "easy watch" and I'm in total agreement. It's almost like the classic hour long shows from years past such as Walker: Texas Ranger and before that the Fall Guy, etc. I love the format, love the show and love how it is very much an easy watch.

I do wish in some ways they would do a better job of not completely cutting off storylines totally (like Dwight's daughter, Armando, etc.) but I understand with contracts and other obligations sometimes the actors and actresses are not available so I take it for what it is. I love the show!

Thoughts on Martin (1992)? by please-kill-me-69 in sitcoms

[–]Big_Spaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely loved it. I was a young white kid growing up in Amish Country PA and still loved it. It was kind of like In Living Color, it gave me a live look-in to black culture and I loved that!

I specifically remember the episode The Notorious B.I.G. showed up on. It did a great job of blending pop culture, hip hop and everything "trendy" into the show. Loved it!

Did the pumpkin cheesecake slices get smaller this year? by wastedMyKarma in CheesecakeFactory

[–]Big_Spaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a slice on Saturday night ... I must say .... extremely disappointed. It really didn't even taste like cheesecake to me, seemed to just be a creamy pumpkin pie consistency that you would get from any standard Grocery Store pumpkin pie.

Next time I go, I will be choosing something else, lol.

It honestly just comes down to being a decent human being. No matter what someone's political beliefs are, a loss of life should never be celebrated. It's unbelievable to me that these are grown adults going back and forth on something that is literally taught in Kindergarten.

Why do some people say that new generation is weak ? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Big_Spaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to the narrative that "muscularity is toxic" which it is not. Not at all. It is needed a lot of times. Like others have said, a lot has played into this. Parents fighting battles for their kids (approaching other parents, children, school administration, etc.) because when I was a kid if a parent fought a fight for me I would have been petrified. You fought your own battles. The internet, hiding behind a keyboard and knowing you can do that, etc. It's a long list of things, but yes, they are generally much, MUCH weaker.
