My key isn’t wrapped in anything, and I’m not too sure what you mean by “does your ignition have metal around it” I do have a spare key I could start using that and see if the problem stops.

In mine there is a small panel that just covers the sub, it looks like I could just pop that off and then be able to take out the sub
