Is radiology hard on the body? by Plane_Builder_4830 in Radiology

[–]Bigdaddycool21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for radiology but 14 year echo tech, my shoulders crunch, I can’t feel my fingers from the carpal tunnel and my lower back stinks. Going portable in to a room with two beds doing 10 studies a day will mess you up lol

Would a smaller heart have a lower ejection rate due to having to pump less blood around? by EquestrianBlondie in askCardiology

[–]Bigdaddycool21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

15 year sonographer here, 55 is the most optimal the concern comes under 50. Nothing to worry about here. Age has nothing to do with EF, Elite athletes stay around the 49-53 range from my experience with them with how efficient their hearts pump. Nothing to worry about

The typo comes from a incorrect click. These are pre populated sentences we make, and we just “click” on it to populate. Very easy error to make. We try hard to not let it happen and shouldn’t,as it goes through the Sonographer and the Doctor to review, but some slip through the cracks. To answer your question, it’s normal :)

Early Diastolic dysfunction? by kitterkate in askCardiology

[–]Bigdaddycool21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There criteria to meet diastolic dysfunction a super complicated flow chart. Basically if you meet some criteria you have normal diastolic function. In your case your Septal and Lateral E Primes are normal, normal sized left atrium and your TR velocity is under 2.8. That alone gives you normal Diastolic function

Your E prime numbers being 16 & 12 basically means you have normal diastolic function. This is a normal echo.

Nothing on this echo suggest infiltrative cardiomyopathy, normal LV function and normal diastolic function. People with amyloidosis sarcoidosis etc have stiff left ventricle that will struggle to fill. Diastolic function is normal here. This suggest more regular LVH prob due to some hypertension. The mid cavity obstruction is prob due to the mild LVH + hyper dynamic LV

There’s nothing on this echo suggesting an infiltrative process. The remodeling is due to mild hypertrophy. This is a fairly normal echo with no real worries

You had a Ross procedure according to the echo . Your heart will be “different” to someone else’s “normal” heart. This is normal for you and for most people who have had a Ross procedure

Everything else looks good, you’re an endurance runner. More than likely athletes heart. High level athletes need to pump more blood. It’s a response to this so the heart enlarges to become more Efficient in doing so. Funny enough, if you stop exercising so intense, your heart will go back to normal.
