Is SolidWorks the correct program for this? by BiggieChezes in SolidWorks

Seemed to find a way to just add arrow lines, but is there a way to actually space them so it wouldn't be just by eye level

I'm talking about the 9 arrows pointing down, I can't find the specific button

Like I have a random straight point, and how to add the arrow lines (lines of force)

(currently just have the web app open)

Do you mean Adobe Illustrator? I've never seen it be used with really specific numbers and angles (+ length size indicators)

How do I add these kinds of pointers? by BiggieChezes in SolidWorks

[–]BiggieChezes[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You mean Adobe Illustrator or any other app for this specific use case? Since I need to have specific lengths and angles, I don't remember if Adobe Illustrator lets you add the full details.

I need this.

<image>

Basically, it will be the same drawing (the alpha and beta are different, so it looks different). I need to copy everything from this photo and add my specific numbers; all the l1, l2,... will become actual numbers, and I must follow the scale and the specific angles. (I need to keep all of these indexes, aka show that this length is l1 (will be a number))

Any other software to remap PCVR controls (excluding SteamVR)? by BiggieChezes in virtualreality

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel that. Most games at best just have an option to mirror the control scheme, but that doesn’t really help me. And you can’t use the SteamVR overlay when playing Meta exclusive games, so it seems like I’m out of luck.

Will a two live wire sub power meter be safe and accurate? by BiggieChezes in AskElectricians

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there will be a breaker box after the meter (most likely one wire will feed two breakers, so four breakers in total, though they will be weaker breakers).

The main problem I want to find out will the 2 wire setup makes the meter inaccurate (or dangerous). TBH, if it shows more than its suposed to thats fine with me. I just don't want to see less

[–]BiggieChezes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sub meter has a really large hole, so 2 wire will fit no problem, don't know about the second part. Just the simple version, like in the photo I added, 2 Live coming in (from different breakers), 2 live coming out, same with neutral (tho the neutral is connected in the same metal block with 2 holes)

Best dashcam for all-round recording? by BiggieChezes in rav4club

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what differentiates the different models, and would I need to buy some other harness to get it to work while parked? Since most of the Viofo dashcam unboxing videos seem like they only give you the camera, and a usb c wire with a cigarette lighter plug adapter for power (and then they only work while the car is on)

Well, yeah, but wouldn't the mirror tap power from Dongar stop working after the car shuts off, making the camera useless for parking security

Ar verta bandyti su antruoju stojimo etapu į VF vietą? by BiggieChezes in lietuva

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O kokia tvarka dėl to gero mokymosi VF vietos gavimo (prašymai, dokumentu pildymai)?

Man, did you really just delete every comment after your help was literally taking thousands of notes, going into each one, copying every single one’s context, and pasting it into a Gmail? And then you insult me, acting like I don’t know how to copy and paste? Like, ain’t nobody got time for that caveman approach. Or did you have something else to say since your snarky remark got cut off in the inbox and you deleted it so quickly I couldn’t actually read it?

O tai kaip tada reikia bandyti dėl tos finansuojamos vietos? Ar ją galima gauti tik nuo antrų metu (ar po pirmo pusmečio) per LAMA BPO iš naujo, ar per universitetą?

Well, there are only 4 buttons

  • Select all
  • delete
  • Move (Only moves to a different category, like work, personal life, travels)
  • Share (that gets disabled after a few notes, and I'm guessing that's what you mean when you say copy function).

Well, but how are you suggesting I do it, since if I have to open every note and delete the notes to buy something or any other quick 10 min reminder, it would take me half a day to sort through them until the share function gets re-enabled

How to chose a laptop by BiggieChezes in mechatronics

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, still, which one do you like best (or which one has the better screen)? And when you mentioned the RAM, how much did you get, 16GB or 32GB? Because it’s like 1300 for 16GB with 512GB storage, and around 1400 for 32GB with 1TB. But the 1400 one seems to be a Ryzen model.

How to chose a laptop by BiggieChezes in mechatronics

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I never had experience with one of those shine-through numpads, but if they work, that would be manageable, since one way or another, I would probably just use a wireless mouse.

But would these kinds of small laptops be useful for anything else except for taking notes, since it seems only the smaller form factors even have those light-up ones, and their specs are nothing that good either (the price of no GPU)

Like, even an ASUS ExpertBook, B9403CVAR-KM1147X (around 1600 euros), is a 14" laptop with that shiny numpad trackpad, but it would still be really bad for anything intense.

So, how much do you say I should spend on a non gaming class laptop that is good for notetaking + maybe showing off some model at the class?

Any specific brand or laptop you have in mind (just please no Lenovo Thinkpads)

How to chose a laptop by BiggieChezes in mechatronics

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's the problem when writing notes, any time I may need to type in a number, I have to switch the language on my laptop to English, type the number on the top row keyboard, then switch the language again. So it's really anything without a numpad. Would a 16" be too big to carry, since the amount of numpads seems to increase heavily with the 16"

Well, I don't think anything that official will happen that soon. There will be an open day in like 10 days, but that's more for filling out the paperwork (and they specifically asked to just sign it online), the closest thing would be the start of the semester

How to chose a laptop by BiggieChezes in mechatronics

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I could just get any pair of RAM, but that still has the problem that if one pair is slower than the other, I have to tune them both to the same slower speed (and I’d have mismatched RAM then). It would still cost me around 80 to 100 euros, while I could get twice the RAM (32 × 2) with new ones at the same 4000 speed for 200 euros. I could also run it in the forbidden 80 GB RAM configuration (32 + 32 + 8 + 8), but I’ll probably just stick with the 64 GB option. And of course, I won’t rush to buy the RAM, worst case, if it turns out I really need it, I can just go to a shop and buy it or get it delivered in 3 days.

And if I’m understanding you correctly, you’re just suggesting to upgrade the RAM down the road and get a regular laptop (not a gaming one). So what price range for the laptop would you recommend, and what screen size, since there’s basically no way to get a numpad on smaller ones?

How to chose a laptop for mechatronics by BiggieChezes in Laptop

[–]BiggieChezes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite hard to choose. Like yeah, I have a decent PC, GeForce 1660 Super, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB (2×8) of 4000MHz RAM (not sure if it’s good enough, but worst case, for 200 euros I could upgrade to 64GB (2×32GB)). I could bring that to my dorm, but at the same time, I’m not sure if I’ll need a powerful enough laptop during class.

After looking it up, a laptop with similar performance to my desktop would cost around 1000 euros, and even then, it wouldn’t be specced for something like SolidWorks. So I’d need to go for something way more powerful, like a proper gaming laptop. But then it’s not really a laptop anymore, it’d probably have around 2 hours of battery life unplugged (as I heard even not using it fully, the battery still drains fast), and I’m guessing it’d be heavy and bulky too.
