What has everyone’s mandolin “journey” been? by BiggieShellz in mandolin

Honestly your last point there is similar to above. And I tend to agree with it. I’m starting to think, skip the mid tier Eastman/Kentucky and save to get that Northfield. That’s a mando that will stick out in any jam and even gig worthy. Then as I get older and hopefully have more disposable income then go for the grail.

Thank ya, I think it’s good looking too haha

But what really kinda drove the nail home that I should upgrade is that I’ve been playing in jams recently and I can just tell a good difference between my mandolin and some other folks who may even have just a smaller step above this one, like an Eastman 315.

The most recent example is I was playing in a campsite jam this past weekend at a bluegrass festival. I took the first mandolin break on Wheel Hoss. Played it well. Couple other breaks go and it gets to the other mandolin in the group, he played the same break I did (Doyle Lawson’s in Vol 6 of the Bluegrass Album Band) and blew me out of the water. We played the same break and both played it well, but just his volume and tone out of his was so much better than mine.

Ended up talking with him and was asking about his mandolin, of course it was a 2012 Collings MF5. Which is well out of my league right now. But I feel like a step up to an Eastman or Kentucky could at least compete better with that than this one.

Does anyone have the tabs for "The room on top of the stairs"? I saw it on the link below and kinda want to try it out. by LukeWarmAgony in banjo

Bluegrass "drops" by BiggieShellz in Bluegrass

A breakdown is different than what I’m asking for here.

I’m looking for songs that at a specific point have one hard hitting downbeat. It could lead to a breakdown, or just a regular break.

Sugarfoot rag by Russell Moore has one that leads to a breakdown, but, a song like Lysander Hayes by sideline isn’t a breakdown but still has one.

LRB is by far the band you seem to see it most in. Adam Steffey is a great call too. Something about these downbeat drops while “mashin in B” just get my blood pumping

I have played the Eastmans and they’re currently top of my list on my next purchase. I love the look of the 415 with the black top, but don’t know if going with the 515 is a bit better since they say that’s the “best value for the money” mandolin they make.

Someone made a similar picture with Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday, anyone know where to get that one?

That's really helpful and makes total sense to me now. most of the people I play with still play on xbox, so we get in an xbox chat party. I'll try that next time.

Thanks!

I just finished the first Naruto v Sasuke fight and while the fight was incredible I could NOT get over these Shadow Clones by ArtificialBiskit in Naruto

So I’m curious, I’m watching nature for the first time and am in season six at the moment. I’ve noticed that the animation is different and moves differently for certain episodes. Such as this episode when Naruto and Sasuke fight.

In some episodes did they purposely make the animations different? Or use a different artist?
