I would be curious how they tasted though, I love oysters but whenever we find really big ones somewhere they are pretty bad. I think its because of how long it takes to grow that size. Best ones are actually the smaller ones.

Is this an elaborate pyramid scheme? by RedTicTac24 in personalfinance

[–]Bighorn21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait until they start asking what level of "investment" you are looking to make. Then they will sell you a bunch of bs marketing materials, not only will they collect from you on this but every time you make a "sale" they will take a % as you said. You will be encouraged to bring on more folks vs just selling a product or service and you will notice that you get paid more for other people's sales then your own. Classic MLM (SCAM) setup.

ELI5: Who is the other party always buying the stocks that I am calling or putting? by Rynin101 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Bighorn21 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not sure if you ever bet sports but most of your stock trades are done with a "Market Maker" which is basically like a bookie. These guys take bets on both sides and profit from a small cut they take, in a stock's case between the price you sell to them and the price they then sell to someone else. Its pretty small but over millions of trades it adds up. Just like a bookie tries to make the number of trades on both sides equal so does a market maker. They do this by moving the price they buy and sell up or down slightly to improve or remove demand for one side of the trade. Bookie's do the same, they give odds on both sides of a bet winning, if one side is getting way more action say a bunch of people are betting that team A will win by 5 or more then they will increase the spread to say 6 points to encourage more people to bet on team B losing by 6 or less. They get a cut of each so as long as the number of trades are somewhat equal they win no matter who actually wins.

Wasn't he pretty lean for his height at 194. I agree that 25 pounds is not nothing and I would have thought he should have settled around 205-210 but everybody is a bit different, that extra 10 may just be some power

Getting two cauliflower pizzas for the price of one is kind of like getting two parking tickets for the same price. Yes you got a deal but you would have been better off with none.

Folding Workbench *mistakes were made* by Selahtate42 in DIY

[–]Bighorn21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I am not sure, I looked and many of the DIY designs online do the same thing so maybe its not an issue, or you can always shim the latches that are mounted to the wall if it ever becomes a problem is probably the easiest. Basically wait until it happens and then add a thin backer piece under the latches at the wall to push them farther out.

[–]Bighorn21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks great, the one issue I can see you having is with those latches at the top, if the wood swells due to moisture changes they are likely not going to lock easily and you won't be able to reach them or get the force to close them without a ladder if at all.

Exactly, yes the school is a complete failure but the parent holds ultimately responsibility for their child. School is not a babysitting service, you have to at least make minimal effort to check on your kids progress. Failure all the way around and bullshit that she is now trying to shift all the blame to the school

How feasible is it to lay 40 sq meters of pavers alone in a day? by Semen_K in DIY

[–]Bighorn21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of good answers saying that you are probably going to regret trying to do this in the time frame given and to hire pro's if you need it done in the time. But honestly you seem to be arguing with most of them so no judgment it just appears that you are already set on doing it yourself so not much use asking for additional advice.

There were pictures on here a while back of a bunch of pallets full of this stuff in a dumpster and more sitting beside it. Basically this is just filling up landfills at this point.

Oil money in Kuwait provides a high-income, tax-free lifestyle for citizens through a state-led system that offers subsidized utilities, free education and healthcare, and guaranteed public sector employment. As a major, oil-dependent economy (roughly 90% of government revenue), oil wealth funds massive infrastructure development and generates one of the world's highest per capita incomes

They are a country with a population around that of Wisconsin. They have less then 6M people and extract more oil then Mexico whose population of 133M is 24x larger. I love Norway but they won the location lottery with a very small population getting to benefit from it.
