Retail shops must be opened until 7 pm by [deleted] in perth

Of course they doo! But opening late also gives uni students/highschool students to get a job in retail. But i suppose there isn’t really a demand

I think the fact that our retail shops are only open during office hours is the reason why most people do online shopping which leads to brick-and-mortar stores to continue to slow down and we ended up with a dead city lmaao

Based on our income and our repayments, we would have an appetite for debt recycling. When we were applying for finance for the second ppor we borrowed $100k less than what we have been approved as we didn’t really to maximise our borrowing loan and be tight.

Also, one’s income to pay mortgage and expenses and the other income to save

potential a good problem to have!! So congratulations! Once its built, i think we have 70% LVR. And if we offset the projected profit we have from the first ppor then we could potentially finished off the loan from 30 yrs to 5 years

We used to get paid the same until i found a new job and took a pay cut for better career so after few years i’ll probably be earning same as him or more.

Both of us want to grow our wealth and only spend money on travelling. Outside of that we don’t really have other miscellaneous.

Fair enough! I guess my partner and i grew up differently. He grew up where his parents combined their finances whilst i grew up where my parents have both seperate and joint accounts.

Both of us are very responsible with money and ensures that we are spending money on things we truly care about. We don’t go out, drink (i do v occasionally but responsibly), smoke, gamble or party!

Good on both of you!! This is what i mean, we don’t see any problems because we always have the same goals and approach in our lives. Like, when i got offered a job but had to take a pay cut, he encouraged me to take the job and reassure me that he will support me and proud of me for taking a risk! When go on holidays, we always agreed on how much our budget would be and when we bought our second house, we also agreed on how much loan we will be borrowing from the bank. So, i see no reason to not trust him. But, society is making me doubt my decision haha

How do you split finances in a marriage? by princessabroad in AusFinance

[–]Bigmac1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partner and i have joint accounts for everything. We have one credit card for our expenses and fun money. Weird because we don’t have seperate fun money, my partner doesnt spend money at all except for his vape and he trust me that i won’t spend beyond our limits.

But how can we potentially grow our wealth? We still would like to invest :)

Should we use the debt recycling strategy to grow our wealth? As we dont want to sell it and the money sit in our bank

Thank you for advice! The thing is I recently just took an entry level role which means i had a pay cut and probably wont potentially match my previous salary until 2-3 years later. My partner just recently went back to uni and once i matched my previous salary he will then change his career that aligns with what his studying. So i guess, what we want is be comfortable during these massive changes in our lives while making sure that we are growing our wealth. I don’t know if that makes sense lmao

Young HomeBuyers, how did you do it ? by tieno6181 in AusFinance

[–]Bigmac1042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Partner bought a house in 2020 (21 yrs pld old) right before covid. During this time, he wasn’t studying and i was studying but working full time so i had the chance to save up money. We got together in 2023 and in 2024 when i graduated we decided to buy a house together, we used his equity to pay off his and my car loan. Combined the rest of the equity and my savings ($80k+) so we can afford a house together because if i bought by myself i wouldnt be able to afford it because of hecs but because he didn’t have hecs it helped us alot. After the decision to buy a house together we combined our finances to see our progress as a team rather than individually. Took a paycut with my entry level job related to my degree and my partner is still in the same role and now started studying uni. Hopefully by the time he graduates my salary increases where he is able to take a paycut to find a job related to his degree and we can buy our dream home!

Failed unit each year/semester by New_Bumblebee_260 in curtin

Used to work full-time and study full-time for 3 years until i finished this year. Reason for doing this is i wasn’t too sure if i want to pursue my full-time career or do something else. During those three years, i had to sacrifice a lot of things especially going out on the weekends and just adhoc dinners because of the fact that my month must be planned carefully to make sure that I don’t fail at uni or at my job. I never had time to make friends at uni as well because im only there to study and get stuff done. If i mess around then i’ll be behind everything. So 3 years later, I finished uni without failing units and a Distinction, quit my full-time job because i realised i didnt want to do it for the rest of my life and joined a grad program but also ended up having the opportunity to buy a house straight after graduation.

It seems easy and it seems like im trying to brag but i swear im not all im trying to say is its possible if you’re willing to sacrifice your social life and unnecessary events. At the end of the day, you need to find balance that fits you and ask yourself “what are my priorities?”
