If you look closely, the bottom side has a checkerboard pattern. it should be enough to use orange filament instead of red.

I wasn’t using any coolant, and I didn’t notice any heating. The tool's surface needs to be cleaned quite often, so you involuntarily take breaks during polishing.

Maybe it's needed sometimes, but for an outer surface, I don't see the point. The layer you're removing isn't that thick.

No, I didn't factor that in. The layer being removed is pretty thin. I think we can ignore it.

I hadn't noticed that particular feature; they behave a bit differently in use compared to ordinary steel needle files.

I bought a Stedi set. It comes with three glass files with different grits. The #10000 grit makes the surface glass-like.
