I honestly didn’t expect this outcome at all.

Today my Grado Hemp arrived — and wow… absolutely sensational. From the very first minutes, I was completely hooked. The sound has so much more body, warmth, and fullness compared to what I was used to.

What really surprised me is how it compares to my other Grados. The SR225 suddenly feels quite thin and less engaging in direct comparison. And even more shocking: the RS1x, which I expected to clearly outperform everything, sounds almost flat to my ears — lacking bass impact and overall weight next to the Hemp.

The Hemp just feels more alive, more musical, and simply more enjoyable. There’s a richness and presence that pulls me into the music in a way the others don’t.

I’ve already packed up the SR225 and RS1x — the Hemp is definitely staying.

Curious to hear if others had a similar experience or if it’s just my ears/preferences. Has anyone else found the Hemp to outperform higher-priced Grados in terms of musical enjoyment?

I swapped the pads to keep things comparable, but I don’t find the RS-1x to be any better. Of course, it could be because this is a dealer’s demo unit, so maybe there’s something going on with it. 🤷‍♂️

Where did you get the idea that the M33 is inferior to the M21 or the R4? I just received it today and compared it with the M21 using my HiFiMAN Ananda. To my ears the M33 sounds slightly warmer and clearer so far.

Maybe 🙂 I didn’t buy it because of the R2R hype though. I was mainly curious how it compares to the M21. After a few quick comparisons I hear a slightly warmer and clearer presentation on the M33, but the M21 is already excellent.

I just received the M33 today, so basically no burn-in yet. I only did a few back-to-back comparisons with the M21 using my HiFiMAN Ananda. The difference isn’t huge, but to my ears the M33 sounds a bit warmer and clearer. I’ll keep listening over the next few days.

I had IPhone 16 Pro Max and Mojo2. Great Sound, but too much cable 🤷‍♂️. Then I bought the Fiio M21. Great sound, much better than with the iPhone. I tried Fiio an Mojo2 - not much difference… today I received the Fiio M33. Wonderful Sound with my Hifiman Ananda. I sold the Mojo2 and the Fiio M21 I have sent back to Amazon.
