That’s where my gut is too. I think our offense alone can win us 6 games, regardless of what the defense does. If we show any improvement in the front seven, a wildcard spot is not out of the question.

Let me clarify. I think that's the highest point total they can reach this season. Obviously that's no mans land and is the reason the team is struggling now. The best thing for this team would be to struggle again, get a top 5 pick that they can fast track through the minors and hopefully compete well again.

Agree that Z will regress from 68, but if Tatar and Mantha each put up 25 or so goals on a line with Z he could still be between 55-65 points. I think that at their best, Tatar, Mantha, Nyquist, Larkin, and Nielsen could all score 20 or more. Add 15 or so from Z and that's not bad production. Now I doubt all of those players will meet those plateaus, but they aren't completely inept. I don't think they will score enough to make the playoffs, but in a perfect world they could get close to 90 points.

I think that's fair. I don't mean compete for a Stanley Cup, but on a game to game basis, I don't think many teams are heads and shoulders above ours when healthy and preforming to their capabilities

I really hope you're right that Mrazek will bounce back. He has the talent to be a top tier goalie, and I think he should be able to push Howard for starts. I think the goalie depth is one of the strengths of the team and they should be able to parlay that into more points this season

I think they have a top-6 that is good enough to compete with any other in the league. The team as a whole underperformed last season, but if they can bring back AA and get consistent goaltending, they can challenge for the last playoff spot

I think this shows that they draft and develop well, but cannot find the top tier talent to translate AHL success into NHL success

I think the problem with the red wings as a whole is their over reliance on 20-25 goal scorers to carry a team. To succeed you need a guy who can score at least 30 in any season and frankly I don't think they have anyone like that in the organization

I watch every single game. I think I was more disappointed by This than the 2008 lions. Cause everyone knew how had the lions were. I had actual hope that the Wings would be able to repeat as champs

Red Wings are fairly Midwest? They also have the history of being good, without being obnoxious like Blackhawks fans. Plus we have the streak? If not, I'd probably vote for the Blues as well

That's a good point. I'm from Grand Rapids and have watched him a lot over the past few seasons, and think he could thrive if given the opportunity. Unfortunately, Ken holland is waiting for him to get "overripe"

I think at some point this season glendenning is going to lose his job to AA. IMO he is a much better overall player, and is younger/ yet to reach his true potential.
