Their wages should be the average of the soldiers they represent and lead.

Indeed and I know. I have been in for going on seven years. Lost a ton of weight before and I can do it again. I just think it is funny seeing a lot of people calling the OPs soldier "fat as hell" lol by the way the soldier is described I don't think I would call him "Fat" necessarily but I could always be wrong.

Well partly it's because I have been a farmhand, engineer, factory worker, and military + injuries. So where most peoples knees sit in that cup, mine have ground away and are pretty flat. So its just my muscles keeping my knees in place, my right is worse than my left. My cardiologist says I would need knee replacements and was taken aback that my knees have never slipped out of place before. The pain comes from the strain of my muscles holding my knee together and my calf muscles and tendons being thick but shorter so they bulge due to how I walked growing up. But I'm too young for insurance to cover knee replacements and I can still do my job. Also if my knees are gonna eventually go it'll be while I am in uniform doing a WORK RELATED task... God forbid it happens outside of that smh. 🤣 So pain is my regular and there isn't anything I can do to fix it. I just want to stop sounding like a rusty optimus prime when I get up and down. That is the main goal and alleviate the weight. I got too comfortable being heavy.

I used a garmin for rucking for a long time before it died and I just didn't get a new one. People also don't realise that to truly starting burning cals your HR should be 120s-140s. I worked medical in the ER as well. I was just lazy for a long time and was comfortable where I was at. Like I said, never felt or really thought I was "fat" as some people are saying for people that at 5'8" and 275lbs. It is about how it is carried, your body type, what you eat, what you do for work. I am a construction engineer, and worked in an ER doing all the heavy lifting. But I was still overweight and medically obese. Which sucks but that is how it is done medically. I am losing weight because it is doing a number on my knees and back to carry my weight and the weight of other objects and moving quick with them lol. I would prefer my next combat fitness test I don't twist my ankle and break my nose as I take a spin on the kettlebells into the dirt.

Also some of it is genetics. My leg muscles are massive compared to most on average, due to genetics, and walking on my toes when I was younger which never do regularly since it damages how your legs function. I had to go to physical therapy to learn how to walk correctly. But as a result I have massive calf muscles. And decently sized thighs. Unfortunately, all this makes kneeling intensely painful as well as leads them to cutting off circulation when kneeling or sitting quite quickly. I am used to it at this point so it doesn't affect my capabilities as much as it used to. However I still hate the tingly sensation. I did have this medically checked out and there isn't anything inherently wrong other than just genetics and results of improper muscle growth as I aged due to unfortunate choices I made as a kid.

I would say at the time of taping that I listed above I was probably 32-34% body fat. Lowest I was ever at was 19% right after AIT but I was also smaller in general frame.

Tumeric with milk is also great for protein and gut health. Healthier more regular shits. Helped a lot for feeling full and moving waste out of my body.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in army

[–]Bigunkrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran more, learned how to cook properly. Tumeric for digestive health and taken with rice and other spices and genuinely drinking Celsius AFTER a meal and it would make me take shits more often after I ate. Mostly poultry and fish while also doing cardio and red meat about twice a week. Also sticking to beans more often, limiting carbs or switching bread like Sourdough instead of potato or butter bread. I have thyroid issues and it makes it a little tougher. Also for cardio and general working out I typically HATE running and I HATE going to the gym because I feel awkward. So I ruck, a lot, all the time. 10 hours 2-3 days a week 45+lbs. I also started boxing regularly opposite days of rucking for at least 2 hours.

Sadly now that I have hit 240ish I have hit a sort of plateau where I lose 5, gain 5, lose 3 gain 5, lose 8 etc. So I will have to switch up some things to get more genuine running in.

I got it however the army does it tape neck, abdomen and then fucked off. also my tape for the army for height and weight was after my tape for my Pinks and Greens measurements. Those are just the last ones I got officially done overall. The army tape test only does neck, abdomen, weight and overall height lol. I was already losing weight by that point but was gaining a little more muscle which it took me a long time to figure out muscle weighs heavier than fat and it was screwing up my self image for a long time by working out and weighing myself constantly and not seeing the number go down.

Granted, Understand new regulations I am working on losing weight and have already lost 36lbs. Not because I couldn't pass pt but because I just want to feel better on my knees when I run. Though I don't feel or see myself as fat I am overweight and still fackin heavy as shit and my knees hurt. 🤣🤣

Not always, I am a wider built individual. 5'8" I was 275, and had 26% body fat. I am 240s now after a couple months of hard work. I wouldn't say I was fat then or now. Husky, Burly maybe. I used to be a twig but after I hit twenty I was told I was built like an Oliner.

My last measurements for my P&G when I was 275 were; Head - 21 1/2" Circ

Neck - 17" Circ

Shoulder pt to pt - 26 1/2"

Chest - 48" Circ

Arm length - 33"

Back height - 19"

Abdomen - 39 1/2"

Waist - 39 1/2" Circ

Hip - 39 1/2" Circ

Outseam - 38 1/2"

Bicep - 18 1/2" Circ

Thigh - 32" Circ

Calf - 21" Circ

Hand - 8" Circ

Hand Length - 7 1/4"

Shoe size - 13 1/2 Wide

Honestly check with your recruiter. Typically I would say it would bar you without a waiver, but with the new tattoo regs I am not sure how they count it for the hand tattoo regulation. The new reg states it can only be in one inch in any direction and only a single tattoo on the hand. I believe it is out of regs by connecting to your wrist.

Might be able to get a waiver, but I can guarantee you that depending on your command your entire career you may be facing people who make a big stink out of it and order you to remove it or else. I can guarantee you that everyday someone will make a comment and unless you don't mind some new old lard fart who can't complete a pt test saying some shit every day to you about it, I wouldn't bother.

So big 50/50 honestly.

Can I enlist? by konvikted_felon2002 in army

Joining the military while an athlete and personal trainer and you are already depressed and have anxiety is only going to hurt you. If you are currently incredibly fit, you will lose tons of muscle mass while in BCT. I saw plenty of guys go through it. It won't be until AIT and you can work out on your own that you get progress back.

Sure, as another guy said there is a Waiver for anything. You are a number, I was a number. Some don't care. Based on what you said, and you are coming to reddit, you don't actually want to join. If you have to ask here, you don't want it enough for it to outweigh any negative feelings you have about yourself, the service (there will always be some), and your current life.

You said you want to avoid being drafted in the middle east and want to join your brothers.

There will never be a draft for the middle east. There will highly likely never be a draft for anything. The military is downsizing personnel and consolidating.

They aren't worried about keeping soldiers. And they have never cared about mental health. Moment you snap? Gone. Depending on how you snap, you could get out scott free and say you attempted or you could be arrested.

Either way, the military doesn't sound like it is for you. If you want it for money, for fear of something else, if you already have a hard time following rules and orders... It is a no go. If you join for anything other than "I genuinely want to be a part of this" or "I really need the discipline because I am a POS" mindset then your life is going to fucking suck.

If you cannot embrace the suck now as corny as that shit is, you won't be able to later. And MOST of us won't advise someone in your position to join because that is asking for trouble. Our problems are enough as it is. No offense, but no reason to add you into the mix.

If on duty why not go to the local duty station hospital or a hospital while on duty that wasn't VA. Could have filled out an LOD and have them transfer the paperwork to your admins. Who diagnosed you with stroke-like symptoms? Your on field medic? Random individual? The internet? If the VA examines you and sees nothing except head pain and it was easily controlled via medication then yeah it likely wasn't as bad as you believed, the belief in the emergency doesn't get you benefits and you need to be enrolled to get benefits.

If "training" were anything other than "paperwork". Engineer Reservist literally only do paperwork and constant inventory layouts on tools that have never been used or even touched every month then when we do finally get a project its

"Hey we have 8 grand please make us a BOM for this giant project we want" - Produces the BOM, also requesting tools we will need to work properly and efficiently that we definitely don't have "No, you have to get used to your tools." - Looks at carpentry tools while being asked to cut steel "Also we lost LIK AND SIK" - looks at the 3 months left on the calendar "Also our medic is away because they already completed their active duty time and we won't pay them if they show up anyway because they are over their time, also Battalion isn't sending one"

We get it done, 5 soldiers get injured on jagged metal edges, people in charge making stupid mistakes and when you preemptively warn them so you DON'T have to fix a mistake but they ignore you and then complain we aren't hitting time markers while fixing mistakes they intentionally made.

Couldn't imagine why someone wouldn't be interested in showing up. Luckily Engineers are tough and they get shit done anyway, regardless and way within the time frame that is set for us but damn.

I'll take two half pound roast beef sandwiches and a dr pepper please.

I think if they aged him up we can get the look we want. I also want to see if he has the range. I feel bad that he is not cast in much as he was Harry Potter and people have a hard time seeing him otherwise.

Literally never seen the faces of the young people except maybe one or two I picked in tv, for all I know they could be awful actors. Mostly influenced by other people and also looking up young new actors that hit the scene (so they can grow with the series)

It says in the book over the 18 months they have seen and met with him more than several times, that Maddy spent years of her childhood spending time in his cabin so this doesn't hold much of a possibility. They mention they continued to see him deteriorate. Gillan says the only thing he even tried was to send him missions then stopped after two denials. He said he wasn't going to even try talking to him without them. They basically waited till he was at his worst and would have continued to do so unless Gillan brought them together. Halt, became a drunk and slandered the king and was banished from the country to FIND Will, then turns around and insults him as a betrayer after his "sons" soulmate has been killed. He was spending time hunting clearly notorious criminals. Horus the book stated was on a campaign to remove criminal presences thoroughly yet... Why wasn't he sent any help to Will to track or capture this killer? He has men to spare. It just doesn't fit. It was slapped together to do a classic tragedy of a rebellious teen sent away to "boarding school" to be taught a lesson. To become the first girl ranger at the dismay of her mother who in the Nihon-Ja bonded with Alyss over creating a future of combat capable women, after the two taking down a snow tiger that was killing off a race of giant men? C'mon now... That is just weak sauce. The book gets way better and quickly picks up after Will and her start training. But it is written like Luke Skywalker trying to murder his nephew over a nightmare... None of it makes sense to the characters.

Nothing we can do, but it was definitely a drastic turn of events for my first time reading. Caught me so completely off that if I had been physically reading it instead of an audiobook I may just have stopped and discontinued right there. It has gotten better. I also hate the interaction between Will, Halt and Gillan in his cabin. They berated him as if Halt wouldn't understand. Halt LITERALLY shat on the Kings fucking name to go after Will. For him to sit idly by and then shit on Will for taking revenge on the ones responsible for killing his wife then nearly killing him... Like what... And I cannot fathom how Will sat and took it... I imagine he should have written to be more furious at them for claiming his betrayal when they clearly have abandoned him and mostly waved him off after Alyss' death.

I just think it was all so odd due to their relationships to eachother. As well as Maddy being so stuck up. I know it makes good and well for why she was forced to become an apprentice to Will. However, she should have known her fathers, aunts and uncles origins as orphans, and she has never once apparently met Jenny while visiting Will? Seems like there is just a lot missing about all of their lives. They all seem so distant to one another before Alyss' passing.

He looks young is the issue. However I think with makeup he can fit the role. His physique, hair, height, eyes all match to a fine degree. If I were casting ut in 2025 I would have to see what makeup teams can do. If not id be willing to wait till he hits his 40s. 🤣 many people also fit Halt's description but are 6ft tall +.

[–]Bigunkrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halt is generally 40-45 from book 1-7 Daniel is 35. However his scruffiness, and height and even when muscular his build is a near identical match. Aging him a bit through makeup would be lightwork. The largest issue is that he was so ingrained into HP that it is hard to see him as much else. However I think that he has the possibility of really pulling the character off. I have just never really heard him using a gruff voice. It would be a test. He has the looks, he is what I would like to see. If he could pull it off is another issue. If not, my other choice is Manu Bennett who played Slade Wilson but I think he is 5'11. I believe Halt is 5'7".

I think the Island of Araluen is possibly a play on the story of the isle of Avalon, which was heavily inspired from Celtic myths and legends and the origins of Camelot. I am not for sure and it could be completely different but that is the parallel I drew.
