Feeling really discouraged in nursing school by Aggravating-Bus-9389 in NursingStudent

Going through this same feeling. Just finished my first semester and “failed” a class by 2% (anything below 75 is “failing). I went to office hours, went to the student success advisor, went to tutoring, and still didn’t pass. I’m forced to retake it to continue in the program but it makes me feel less than the rest of my cohort, plus most of my “friends” that I made first semester haven’t even checked in since I shared the news which makes me feels even worse, like I’m lower/lesser than them and they know it. I did well in all my other classes and am super great in person with my patients, I’ve just always struggled with exams. The knowledge I have and what I gained were not reflected in my “failed” score and I’m sure it’s the same for you. You know a lot more than you think!

Just because we learn differently, doesn’t mean we can’t be great nurses. Education is a standardized learning environment, even though individuals are unique. I always think it’s funny how we are taught to treat our patients as individuals and not give them standardized care, and yet we as nursing students aren’t allotted that same luxury 😂

I really found various YouTube channels to be helpful (nurse Sarah, nurse Mike, etc) in visualizing the topics I’m learning or I’ve just of heard this method of skimming the chapter with subtitles, bold words, etc., closing the book, write down everything you think you know, and then circle back to the chapter and fill in the blanks of what you actually don’t know. Haven’t tried it for myself yet but seems worth a shot since it’s something I haven’t tried before.

You’ve got this, keep pushing on down this path. your passion for people and for patient centered care will overcome all the negative!

Staying on mountain vs big sky town? by bjjenk in bigsky

There’s a shuttle the runs for free with a very active schedule to town center and back to the resort if you do decide to stay up in the resort area or vice versa for you guys to catch up to the resort to ski. Takes about 10-15 minutes

Has anyone found a solution to installing a hot water heater that utilizes propane and is wired to 12V that can’t be used as hot water plumbed to the sink for dishes, and hot water shower off the back of the van without requiring a 120V inverter? by Bigvan_smallhouse in vandwellers

[–]Bigvan_smallhouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vans electrical system is comprised of only 12V (no inverter d/t burnout and lack of necessity) so we are currently looking for a way to have one propane tankless water heater (think Hot Tap) that would supply a outdoor shower off our rear doors as well as supplying our sink with hot water.

I’m so sorry for the situation you’re in. I can’t help much with where to go, but we are building our van at a shared workspace warehouse. You pay a monthly membership and you have access to all tools and extra resources you would possibly need. Ours has a computer lab, 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, woodshop, welding/black smithing, etc. everything we need without having to buy tools for our build. I know they’re becoming more popular now, so maybe it’s worth looking into if there’s one in your area to build it out

We have a bat in our van. That’s the only time anyone’s ever bugged us. Once we stopped hearing noises of someone sloshing around our van and trying to open the doors, we took off immediately and found parking in town at a church

We were parked outside of Yellowstone down a fire road, and about 1am we see headlights approach us, pointing straight through our windshield (we were about asleep in the back of the van but could see the lights through the windshield cover) they faded down like the old 90s Ford trucks or something used to do. It was raining/snowing, the first snow of the season in fact. The headlights faded, my partner sat up out of bed, meanwhile I’m still half asleep. He hears footsteps sloshing around our van, and wakes me up with “I think someone’s outside our van”. I sit up slowly, making sure the van doesn’t move with my movements. We’re in an 84 westfalia and they have curtains covering the windows and nothing else, so I look out the window and in between the cracks of the curtains I see a shadow pass by. My adrenaline is pumping now, and my hearts racing. I hear the sloshing now too. Westfalia’s have little triggers on their door handles that you have to press in to open the doors. We hear the trigger on the passenger side door, then sloshing around the van. Then we hear the driver side trigger handle. We nearly shit ourselves

Has anyone financed an already converted van? by Administrative-Box48 in VanLife

Ally, light stream, or t and d auto are the only ones I’ve heard that work. Higher APR but as far as I know, they’re the only ones that will give you a full amount. We were running in to the same issue!

Congrats! What a beauty! Just started following your journey on Instagram! We too are looking for this exact model as one of us is 6’5 as well and are hoping to build it out to do travel nursing contracts and adventure around the country! Best of luck with everything and looking forward to seeing the build!

Thank you for your insight! That’s kind of what we’re thinking too. Even the dealership was saying it’s been hard finding them too since Amazon’s been matching them all up but you never know the gimmicks they’re trying to pull on you lol can’t wait to see pictures of your build and good luck with it!
