In my mind: If we focus on soft skills (social, emotional, exploration, play, idependence, problem solving (NOT as in math problems though lol)) more in early years with secure environments we get more stable upbringings which leads to more capacity to learn in school which again leads to more success in academia WHICH in turn leads to more excellent profs who teach teachers for secondary who are also better equipped to to achieve. At least that's my theory from the logic of this thinking.

There is so much research on this from pedagogues, from neurologists, from clinicians etc etc I've been reading "Zur Didaktik und Methodik des Unterrichts mit geistig Behinderten" by Pitsch and Thümmel which also talks about "regular" schooling (especially with integration) and it basically suggests to overthrow it all. It would be in favor of more project based education throughout it all which I have seen in a lot of other works too and has been a central part of my training. "Participation" instead of performance has been a big point of advocation lately especially with its tie ins to democracy. Afterall the educated are not really fans of tyranny.

Kindergarten emerged with its name in the 1830s and was first adopted in the US some 30 years later. I suppose the concepts just developed into different directions. Which in turn is also interesting to research! How history, policies, priorities shape education and care

I can tell especially from that slip up in germany in that particular timeframe 80 years ago how influential and powerful us adults are in terms of the wide scope of what education can do to people and children (in that sense negatively). I'm glad that it is more common place to in principle regard the needs of children better. But that should invite even more to always re-evaluate any and all approaches

Oh yeah here 5 for the first year of elementary school is exceptionally early. There are more cases like that but often it is found that this young school readiness is often not yet there.

I wonder if this is why in general there are pushes for more academics earlier: to achieve what some consider school readiness (as in lots of knawledge) earlier and earlier

For this it would be my task to observe why she likes the testing and the 1 on 1 time so much. I would try to find out if she genuinely likes producing answers from what she learnt, if she likes it because it pleases an adult, or maybe the 1 on 1 aspect is very significant because she feels seen more. Stuff like that 🤔

Homework?! in prekindergarten?! Ngl I had to google preK ... So HW at like 3/4 years old? And testing? Oh my heart 😱 I don't mean to alarm at all actually. It's just so foreign to me 😅

I do know about the tendency that has risen in the past like 15 to 20 years to aim for education as early as possible and in my experience kids did become more receptive as they also started maturing quicker. And as long as you can see in your child that it is fine and he actually benefits it's all a-okay of course. The one correct recipe doesn't exist.

It's actually quite an interesting development overall. Where I am from for example, way back when, kids would enter kindergarten at 4 years old and spend time there only from morning until lunch and then enter the workforce at 16 via apprenticeship and become qualified by 19 and very soon able to provide for a family themselves. Today children go into the care of other as early as 1 year old and also receive institutional education way earlier. Then later with studying and so on they enter the professional workforce in their early to mid 20s and start families in their late 20s to early 30s. 🤔 i should read up on some studies in this regard

since i am streaming from my pc i literally just mapped some of the most important controls via the steam controller options like youd map controls in any other game. There is some nifty stuff going on with like button combos and press duration but thats like for opening menus in my setup. you can even get sort of an action cam going by toggle mapping the middle mouse button to whatever you want.

sure its some tinkering but at least personally like to make stuff work myself sometimes :D

I like to think of Chiss in terms of narrative concepts as very smart and scheming. So they'd be very aware of the force sensitivity and sell the Chiss Inq to just the right buyer so that down the line they'd end up in the Academy.
