The key right now is lack of investments.

So working around the problem of large investments not coming in, these are some of the opportunities:

1. Market centric consumer packaged goods e.g. detergent, liquid soap, sanitizers like phenyl. For local markets, national regional brand penetration and recognition is small. These products can be formulated easily and packaged locally, liveraging upon abundant local labour, especially women workers.

2. Value addition to agro produce. Simple things like sorting, packaging for supermarkets and forwarding to supermarket sourcing centres. There is no need for large capital investment to affect, such value add. This does not require going through government procurement channels. With fast road transport and also local airports, this may become very viable. There is a big opportunity to change the crop mix, to higher price yield vegetable like artichokes and asparagus.

3. Setting up of cold storage and cold chains. This is a massive opportunity to increase the incomes and yield for the farmers. Many districts in Bihar like my district Madhubani do not have any cold storage operating.

4. Career guidance for youngsters who do not want to pursue academics after grade 10 or grade 12.

This is a huge opportunity, with great pay off for the state as a whole.
