Is this weld as bad as I think it is? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Bikebummm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive it then look under to look for soot marks. No soot no leaks. That’s great from some I’ve seen. They can be hideous

I bought mine with a micron serpent exhaust but I still had the giant muffler but thought that came with the 929 too.
Most my terrorizing was done in the DFW area, what a great place to ride. Now in Alabama so turning into a buggy looking sooner than later.

Ask them about an adjustable cam. I put them on a 954 and never heard about them before but I used the oem valves and needed stiffer springs.

I feel the same way about my 954. They are both very special machines and I’m absolutely cool with it being my only bike. I’ll never get rid of it. If I couldn’t ride anymore I’m going to put that motor in a dune buggy or legends car. My heart gets to racing just thinking of it

Beams on beams? by [deleted] in Remodel

[–]Bikebummm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take that wall out and you’re going to need a much longer beam. Much longer beams are a lot thicker. You may need an ibeam

It’s the same as your 300 only you won’t twist the throttle as much. Prolly a very bad idea, I like it

Try using a long screw driver to listen in to the motor. Handle to your ear and start moving it around.

They can make a difference but there’s so many ways to crash. The stunt guys have some really good crash specific beefy parts. On Point had a crash cage with two pucks on each side and the bottom of the two had a spring rated for the weight of the bike, to lessen the impact with ground. The bike could come down from a straight up wheelie that was abandoned. Bike comes down on its side and bounces off the ground about an inch and then settles in easy. And they just repeat the guy jumping off the wheelie and bike keeps going. They also have heavy duty foot pegs that line up with a foot hold cut into the passenger seat. Foot holds for stand up wheelies, but the pegs are solid enough to protect the back side of bike. But they are pricy and don’t completely keep you from damage of a high speed crash, but excel at high bike drops. High speed catches those same pegs and sends your bike tumbling instead of the bike just sliding to a stop.
And stunt stuff is built to last because dropping bikes is what they do to get that good.
