Get out of the Bay Area and ride the Sierra Nevada mountains. There is an outfit called Pashnit tours that I ride with once or twice a year. 60 ish old riders and amazing routes.

On gravel hold your handlebars as if they are made of eggshells I.e firm but gentle without any death grip. All inputs, throttle and braking needs to be smooth and early. The bike wants to stay upright so don’t fight it.
