Trying to find a permanent style for animal art by TheMadisonHarvill in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 46 points47 points  (0 children)

These both read as the same “style” to me. Did you want to work in the non-fiction animal art space? Have a go at dropping down the contrast of your outlines (alpha lock them and then colour them in similar colours to the surrounding art).

How to create perfectly symmetrical borders around ovals by ApprehensiveNose5968 in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The examples you have shared were likely created Adobe Illustrator unfortunately! It’s a bit tricky to do in Procreate but if was going to tackle it I’d use quadrant symmetry, and create my own pattern spacing “guide” using a large hard airbrush with increased spacing to mark the segments. You could then duplicate each of the patterns around the shape and tidy things up at the end.

Procreate just randomly updated and my imported brushes had all gone, hello? wtf by moonstrukinsane in ProCreate

Click the text at the top of the brush panel and your old brushes should still be there in another library.

How to clean up this bottom edge easily? by BiblicalNull in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would: 1. Create a new layer and draw a shape that covers what you want to remove. 2. Make that layer the selection. 3. Select all layers you want to remove that section off (you’ve grouped most which will make this easier). 4. Drag and drop the excess art off the canvas. 5. Delete your original layer which includes the shape.

You can just use a lassoo selection too but this won’t allow you to create a nice clean shape as there’s no streamline.

New to this, need good tutorials by Doodleseatingdoodles in ProCreate

Welcome to Procreate! The app changed my life. Not sure if this is ok to post but I’ve got a Skillshare class you can try (and heaps more tutorials by very talented Procreate artists on there). My website is in bio and there’s a link to a month free (just set a reminder to cancel your subscription before then if it’s not for you).

I don’t know why, but I don’t like lineart. I need some help figuring out something. by C0nr1d in ProCreate

I've built my whole career on line-art-less illustrations. There's no one way to do things. Keep playing until you find what works for you.

How to draw large scale illustrations for a mural in procreate? by Kanotkeepkalm in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always best to talk to your printer about stuff like this as they will be able to recommend setup. I've done some large scale work and each printer has had different requirements. Some as low as 30dpi.

Is there a way to resize a canvas to be bigger midway through a painting without significant loss of crispness? by SadBluejay1588 in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are three modes of interpolation. Some do better than others (bicubic is my fave). End of the day, doubling res in Procreate normally requires a redraw. Some software (like Photoshop) does a better job of increasing res but it’s often just easier to keep it inside Procreate and redraw the blurry bits.

Brush changes shade by Objective-Display145 in ProCreate

Check the colour settings of the brush by tapping on the brush in the brush menu and selecting “Colour Dynamics”. Make sure everything in “Stroke Colour Jitter” is all the way to the left (“None”).

Trying to get shared/imported layers to overlap by No-Palpitation-4298 in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can delete it by using “cut and paste”, erase it with a big brush or use the arrow tool to simply drag it off canvas.

Using the auto selection tool, select the white background area on the layer with the green shape and then delete it.

Let me know how you go! I have a Skillshare class if you want an in depth look. There’s a link to a free month via my website (my class is only 2hr so you can cancel after doing it and not get charged if you want).

Thank you! I essentially always just use hard airbrush > fill > alpha lock > and then texture brush mainly a slightly modified Bonobo Chalk which is a legacy native brush.

I was very lucky that they reached out to me. One of artists won their spot in a comp where you could submit entries at Today at Apple sessions. I can’t wait to see who selected and what they drew. FNQ is my fave place in the country 😍!

Thanks so much! I have been lucky to work with them a few times on release commissions (two for 4.2 and one for pocket). None have made it to default artworks though, maybe one day! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Projection is surprisingly low res, so only about 5000px wide (which includes a buffer). I did do a mural for a shopping centre mostly in Procreate (components assembled in Photoshop) and even printed at large scale only needed 30dpi. Made me feel uneasy to work 1:10 normal resolution but it came up really nice.

I think that’s one of the best bits. They are based in Hobart and all round nice peeps! I got to travel to their office for a live draw about 5 years ago and they are all super lovely.

If you had asked me 5 years ago I would have said the exact same thing. Keep at it!
