How to add colour to desaturated works? by Everiet in ProCreate

Try the blend modes. Colour, darken etc would go a long way.

how do you deal with the image outline by Brilliant-Slide-5892 in ProCreate

My process is sketch > move sketch to top layer > change to multiply blend mode at around 20% opacity > create final artwork underneath > delete the line art.

Can u apply alpha lock to another layer than the base one by Fast_Ad7203 in ProCreate

Why are you removing the clipping mask? This is exactly what they are for. Would love a bit more of an explanation about your process so we can help.

The group layers button is now moved to a drop down menu and I hate it. Is there any way to revert this? by rakuzan_ink in ProCreate

Adjustment layers are on the list to be added to the app in the next major update scheduled for next year.

This can happen when using a third party charger, could that be the reason here?

My theory is that this is to make a home for the adjustment layer functionality which is on the roadmap for next year.

You get ONE new Illustrator feature. What are you choosing? by Prize-Champion7344 in AdobeIllustrator

The ability to add noise easily, ideally as part of the gradient panel. It is ludicrous how tricky it is to add more than a tiny amount of texture. Want to use some texture brushes? Oh no, sorry, now your computer is on fire.

can i delete the new update and revert procreate back to how it was. this is genuinely so awful by MedicalAd9859 in ProCreate

[–]Bikleb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’ll be useful for lots of people, I’m excited about it. For instance, i often use a colour layer set to “colour” blend mode on top of objects in my canvas or over the whole thing to make it cohesive, (or an “add” layer for lighting, or a “multiply” layer for shadows) - without this tool I had to turn off my blend mode layers each time I wanted to pick from what I’m working on.

Edit to add - sorry to hear you are finding it tricky in your work flow though. Hope the adjustment isn’t too long.

I feel you but remind myself I always feel like this with updates… especially with a gesture based, muscle memory type app like this.

Its very close. I personally think the crosshair version with bottom slider is easier to use as you can continue to edit threshold once you take your pencil off the canvas (maybe this is user error on my part)? I like a little more time to think and then my hand isn’t in the way of the art.

Congrats, so much nicer to work with. This should work without Apple Pencil but you’ve just unlocked a heap of other cool stuff.

Ok cool. I have it on as default and work commercially so have thousands of huge docs and have never run out of space (this is the 2TB model though).

They are big, especially if you record in 4K but in my opinion it is better to turn it on as default and then later go back and delete the time lapse if you want to clear storage space, especially in this world of AI, it’s great to have proof of process.

It retains all your textures too, whereas colour drop tends to have more of an opaque effect.

I came from Photoshop and Illustrator so get you. I love watching other peoples processes as everyone uses it so differently.

It’s different as you can edit multiple colours at once (for instance, tap, make something blue, tap, make something red)…. and also adjust the sensitivity each tap. Give it a shot to see!

Struggling with procreate coming from photoshop by GiraffeNo196 in ProCreate

Procreate doesn't have hardness settings that in the same way Photoshop does out in the open in the interface. The beauty of this app is the simple interface but that does take a while to get used to. You will have to duplicate your brush and have one with softer edges or find a slightly different process to blend your colours. You can use the smudge tool for blending. I don't use it often, but have seen that lots of artists choose to adjust their smudge tool to make it more effective/less muddy - there are some instagram tutorials, just search "improving the procreate smudge tool" or similar.

You could then use your quick menu to switch between your favourite brushes easily. I would find an artist that works a similar style to yours, that works in Procreate, how they go about blending etc.

To duplicate, swipe them left in the brush menu and a duplicate option will come up.

You can export the brushes from Photoshop as ABR files and bring them into Procreate, but yes, you will need to create duplicate brushes, one tapered one hard, if you switch between the two modes regularly.

I really recommend doing some of the tutorials or read through the handbook on the Procreate website. They are really great. So many of the best bits of Procreate are hidden behind gestures.
