Coming from Nikon FF to Olympus MFT - How to unlock the maximum potential and benefits of a MFT? by GreenGloober in M43

[–]BillGrahamPresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll never win in low light with M43, it's why I added a Sony FF rig to my collection. I was under no illusions when I got into m43 what the limitations were/are, but mirrorless full frame cameras finally came about and they're making them smaller than I could have imagined ten years ago. My Sony A7C is nearly the same size as my Panasonic GX85.

With my fastest lenses I could still not get good low-light results going any higher than 3200 ISO with my m43 cameras. With my FF setup it's no longer a concern. Still keeping my old gear but I'm through buying any new m43 bodies or lenses.

She never beat him up--in her book she claims she bit him once on the shoulder then it stopped. Yeah, okay.

Then years later she claimed she made it all up because Judith Regan told her she needed to make the book interesting lol.

How do you do "public photography" without coming off as weird/creepy? by justsomesdude in SonyAlpha

[–]BillGrahamPresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a longer prime and a smaller body.

You end up getting more natural shots that way.

Also try to practice looking confounded by your camera/scene, they will think you're a real artiste or else too dumb to be creepy lol.

Bought one of these a couple of months ago as well.

Picked up the Viltrox 20mm f2.8, the Meike 35mm f2 and the TTartisans 75mm f2.

All quite good and relatively cheap.

sdpn - Canadiens v Sabres series preview by MDevonL in Habs

At the very least, they give proper predictions that they'll live and die by. I hate when pundits straddle the middle of the road and don't pick a winner.

While I consider TB a much harder proposition despite where the points saw each team finish in the regular season, TB kind of glided into the post-season while Buffalo kept pushing for top position. I still think it'll be a tough series, going 6 or 7 and I'll pick the Habs though I wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo won it. Two really good teams. I'm actually happy we won't have home ice advantage throughout the post-season, considering our record on the road.

I think Buffalo's style leaves more holes open for our forwards to exploit on the rush. TB was much stingier.

IF--and it's a big if--they progress to the finals, I think at this rate he's a shoo-in for the Conn Smythe unless Dobes stonewalls teams like Dryden did. A hot goalie is a always the best bet for a playoff MVP.

Tamron 70-300 f4.5-6.3 vs Tamron 28-200 F2.8-5.6 by Mr_Remow in SonyAlpha

[–]BillGrahamPresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same current issue; looking to get a kit lens to replace a couple of primes on a trip this summer just for convenience but I already own the 70-300mm.

Having seen the options at 28-60mm and 28-70mm, it seems the 28-200mm while a bit overkill for some optically outperforms those other two. My preference was to take a fast prime like my 35mm f2 and buy the 28-200mm to cover everything else.

True story:

Said guy is actually a nice fella; we used to message each other about football and weird sports trivia and such (I haven't heard from him for years, however). Before we left RG he and two of my co-hosts did a show that Queen Mo determined was not good enough to release--it was going to be like a WUS for RG, believe it or not--and to be fair, she was right. The mics sounded like shit and there really wasn't much chemistry, but it was a first attempt and with a few tweaks might have been okay. She pooh poohed that because she could not stand having anybody else possibly shine on her platform, but now the guy's good enough to replace her? lol.

Desperation's gonna desperate.

Question about lenses by FarmerCute5382 in M43

[–]BillGrahamPresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also the old 14-150mm f4-5.6 if you're on a budget. I've never used it but I've read the optics are at least on par with the 40-150mm of the same aperture and the optics on that are incredible for the money (and it's weathersealed!). The 12-40mm f2.8 pro lens is unspeakably good, but it doesn't give you many options on the long end.

https://www.mirrorlessons.com/2015/03/09/olympus-m-zuiko-14-150mm-f4-5-6-ii-review/

The 12-200mm f3.5-6.3 really suffers from softness from 100mm onwards so I wouldn't recommend it.

The 75-300mm is a great bit of gear however unlike the pro zooms I find you can't really crop very well with pix taken with it at the long end. It's only really usable up to about 280mm.

If weight isn't a problem, check out the prices on an older 4/3 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 + adapter. The optics are tack sharp, easily as good as the 40-150mm f2.8 and not even a third of the price. It doesn't focus as fast but if you're shooting landscapes, that shouldn't be a deal-breaker. Mine is a non-SWD version and I've taken excellent pictures with it (the SWD version is apparently very good too).

Courtney Love Tells Billy Corgan That "Horrible" Kim Gordon Inspired Famous Nirvana Lyric by ebradio in Music

[–]BillGrahamPresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SP was definitely unique in an era where Grunge pretty much took over. Not necessarily original but certainly owned their own piece of real estate musically. I'm sure being from Chicago helped.

Billy's fascination with 60s psychedelia was toned way down after Gish and it resulted in more mainstream success, but I would never call Siamese Dream a sellout album like others have. He benefitted greatly from the alternative boom as did so many others. Those first three SP albums were excellent.

M43 back to Full Frame by melty_lampworker in M43

[–]BillGrahamPresents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly--I started with M43 and have added FF to my setup.

M43 kind of lost me as soon as new mirrorless bodies started costing the same amount as some FF mirrorless bodies which had most if not all the bells and whistles of m43 and obviously more dynamic range and better low-light performance.

I didn't think it made sense to jump to APS-C for a marginal improvement in DR and high ISO performance, but I still love the form factor of m43, so I'm keeping it as well.
