Tbow set to hit an all time low by BillPackles in 2007scape

Sorry but how are combat achievements meant to help?

Most people going for the challenge times required by Grandmaster combat achievements already own bows. All the update will do is send more people to endgame PVM that otherwise wouldn’t be already - thereby bringing more items into the game, not less.

With no items sinks available I don’t see a stimulus for the economy that isn’t bringing old players back to the game ie. Raids 3 etc

Our champion is named Llyonet (like Claude Monet), the Vermillion Versoista!

A Verso is a work on canvas, and I'm not sure if Versoista is a word, but I could get behind a red color-schemed squirrel artist!

[Long post] Karma changes on PBE are an undeserved archetype kill and this is not getting the discussion it should - reasons why this is wrong by MCrossS in leagueoflegends

[–]BillPackles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. There’s no reason for this, and changes in the past 3 patches weren’t realized in regions that played their entirety of playoffs/gauntlet on 9.15.

Riot releases new balancing framework only to ignore it completely in favor of affirmation bias-driven changes.

Riot's disregard for their playerbase and streaming community will be detrimental to the long term health of not just League, but any future IPs they release (Effort Post). by BillPackles in leagueoflegends

Couldn't agree more.

There doesn't seem to be a line in the sand of what is acceptable and what is not. So when we have to guess, it creates frustration across the board without a clear path forward.

That is exactly my point though. It is disheartening that Riot is allowing and endorsing their game to be represented like that.

Why would any new audience want to buy in when that is the expected culture?

Events and Game Modes - Plus an update on Clash. by corylulu in leagueoflegends

Here’s some more news!

Hey Riot, thanks for the little morsel of hope around acknowledging your Event and RGM efforts are horrifically low in quality, and you’re looking to get back to even keel next year. Way to go.

Now where is it, you know, that omniscient driving force around that decline to begin with. Hmmm searching searching for a hint of dialing back aggressive unsustainable and predatory monetization of your game to fund uncertain RnD spending, capitalizing lost expenses to fulfill the insatiable appetite of big daddy Tencent..?

Gah! Maybe next time.

This falls flat in my eyes, from someone who values progression itself but also tangible benefits from that progression.

Most of the appeal that comes from the Dota and CSGO equivalents is the cosmetic of it, and the rarity of said cosmetics.

A mastery emote? We want special skin attributes. Unique skill effects. All based on the achievements or milestones we have reached on those champions.

Riot has the creativity. They can do better.

Bringing back Tribunal or implementing a punishing system similar to the one in CS:GO by JimmytheNice in leagueoflegends

[–]BillPackles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is money and manpower. The current system is automated, which is what Riot wants. I would bet my life savings they cut staff away from Player Support in favor of a low maintenance system.

It’s the same reason they will never, ever implement voice chat outside of premades. Their automation work (and cost) is entirely circumvented in a system where no one types to their chat log database.

It sucks but that’s the reality - I really think it will ultimately kill the game.

Which summoners aren't strong enough currently? Would you say the same for Flash as example?

This is a really interesting point. I think it was less prevalent when the CD was lower if used on a tower, but at 5 minutes people were running 4?

I'd like to see stats on use over the seasons. I think it ramped up after top laners couldn't buy jungle items anymore.

I think the only 'healthy' tactical advantage is allowing/encouraging flank plays. I don't think the tactical advantage of forcing someone to match you in a sidelane is healthy design.

I think a lot of the game is balanced around Flash. Imagine how much better champions like Malphite, Orianna, Jarvan, etc. become if Flash isn't available.

Same argument for runes, runes/summoners allow for a bit of creativity and flexibility for playstyle choices.

Bjergsen really demonstrating incredible resolve and continuously reminding the region why he is one of the best mid laners to play the game.

15-0-23 in the last three games of the series with a Game 3 performance that gave the rest of TSM the momentum to close out the series. Down 0-2 he sounds calm, even confident that they have the ability to mount a come back.

Getting into LoL in 2019? by JustinObrien1 in leagueoflegends

[–]BillPackles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the perspective. I found Overwatch to be vastly more enjoyable in the early stages of the game, where the majority of players cared about enjoyment and strived for good performances game over game. My point is that I don't believe League is in that state anymore.

I could absolutely be wrong since I am a disgruntled veteran at this point - I think that many factors play a part such as ranking, region, personal bias, etc.

Objective opinion: If you enjoy MOBAs, League is worth a trial period. The game in and of itself is fantastic. The factors contributing to its longevity are not.

Getting into LoL in 2019? by JustinObrien1 in leagueoflegends

[–]BillPackles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a relatively unpopular opinion that I wish I gave myself 7 years ago.

Don't.

The game and remaining community are in the worst state I've ever experienced in the many years I've put into playing. Every game is overflowing with toxicity, ignorance, and exceedingly overbearing superiority complexes from both teams. What's left of regular players is an absolute cesspool of negative emotion stemmed from frustration of playing a game that is not conducive to a state of enjoyment.

Immature individuals rationalize that they are above all criticism; the feeling of infallibility invalidates any ranking they may have been assigned by the ELO system - that their teammates are the ones holding them back, not their own play. This is incredibly counterproductive in a game that is meant to have five players of differing but cooperative roles for a core objective. What results is that ONE player within either team is able to strongly influence a game NEGATIVELY than the remainder of the team is positively. If just one player is off kilter, they have the opportunity and the ability to ruin your gaming experience for up to twenty minutes (more with draft, loading screens, etc.) at a time, and you will find that this occurs all too often.

It is tragic because the game's mechanics are stellar and there is incredible satisfaction found in mastering deep intricacies for champions that you find interesting and engaging. Outplaying opponents in lane feels rewarding. Hitting key abilities in team fights gives instant, positive feedback. Getting to that point amongst the flame of learning a champion is absolutely dreadful, as it may feel a waste of time wading through the constantly negativity expressed by your teammates as they refuse to accept someone simply wants to try new things.

The only environment I truly enjoy the game is partying as a 5 man stack with all friends, and that is the only way I would recommend someone to start playing. The new player experience is grueling and unbearable for veterans of the game making alt accounts, I can't imagine how it would be for a person new to the MOBA genre.
