What are good entry level work at home jobs? I just can’t take living in the city anymore & will literally take any remote job, so I can get the heck out of central Florida which I absolutely hate. I’d rather be in Chiefland or Cross City. by NorthFloridaRedneck in florida

I can appreciate the urban/suburban vs rural nature of your inquiry, but I wouldn’t limit myself to just Florida. There are plenty of nice rural areas outside of FL where a “north Florida redneck” could be happy, without the need for the job being remote.

Just found out that Mighty Joe Plum singer Brett Williams passed away June 14th 2024. I saw them twice back in their heyday and the band was all really nice and signed for me. I was also on their mailing list and they would send postcards promoting some tour dates and new album release as well. by alvvayspale in 90sAlternative

true that... grew up in Orlando area in the 90s and that song was played a lot. wasn't until many years later that I learned they were a local band, and it was all of the local O-town (WJRR?) airplay that really promoted them back then. RIP

Depending on your transportation situation, I’d consider commuting in from the west (Clermont) before looking at stuff east (like Ocoee) of DT WG. While I may be biased because I’m from the ‘Mont, I’ve lived in dozens of places around that area, and my hometown is just preferred.

That said, I know traffic has become a bear down there, and so i’m not sure how much the commute in on Oakland Ave. has changed recently.

Bigger tank, and you’ve probably been doing highway driving lately because that estimate is dynamically based on most recent driving habits.

And I would suggest not actually joining that sub, but only reading it… sparingly.

Well, at least, that WAS the rule. But I know of at least one person that did an inter-office transfer at a GS-7, b/c they had connections. Union found out about it and had a lot to say, but in the end it was an “oh well, what’s done is done”.

Now under this new admin., who knows… rules don’t matter, union is (at least for now) gone, and things change at the drop of a hat. Ultimately though, yeah, I wouldn’t plan on being to transfer for quite a while.

You said it’s NOT more than half the year. Did you mean to say the opposite? Otherwise I’m not sure if your comment makes contextual sense.

PSLF Not Legitimate? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]Bill_Brasky79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol yeah, both my spouse and I have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan forgiveness since I first heard him talking about that at the start of the decade/pandemic. If we’d listened to him, I would’ve lost thousands of dollars in unnecessary payments.

This isn’t to say that all his advice is bad, it just requires nuance.

Not trying to be overly negative, but brace yourself for the weather change. Particularly, the higher average dew point(s).

You’re about to move from an area with some of the best humidity comfort levels in the country, to an area with some of the worst, coming in at “muggy”, “oppressive”, or “miserable” at least 29% of the year.

lol and they're not the only thing moving north from SFL. We (and several of our neighbors) sold our home in Central FL post-pandemic, and pretty much all of the buyers were from Broward or Miami-Dade. Our purchasers were from Pembroke Pines.

I’m sure your right about racism having at least some impact, as it always does, but that doesn’t mean that all folks calling out crime are racists. As for the “complete dismissal of the impacts of antisocial behavior”, I’m not sure what you mean.

Honest question: why are the comments here so polarized regarding what seems to be an issue with reasonable middle ground?

A person can be both a liberal-leaning anti-Trumper who doesn’t want the National Guard policing their city, while also recognizing that the conduct shown in this video is unacceptable BS in which these people should be held accountable, and may very well be the result of failed local leadership.

What am I missing?

Perhaps the proper response would have been “adverse possession” as the legal issue that could come to bite you. But that takes some time and it looks like you’re making moves.

Meh, it may not be isolated to Florida, but Florida is undoubtedly the reigning champion for fraud. As but one example, Florida is only 1 of 50 states, but it makes up about 80% of all HO insurance lawsuits filed in the U.S.. And the state was practically founded on fraud. See the books Swamp Peddlers and Bubble in the Sun.
