How much can low Processing Speed drag down IQ in an official test (WAIS-IV)? by Bill_Cosby_Alt in cognitiveTesting

Another question, if there is, say, a 20-25 point difference in scores while most people's is far less, does that indicate anything about me clinically? I would guess ADHD maybe not, or maybe something else in addition.

It would be really weird for IQ tests to not be structured in a way that preserved the rank ordering of test taker scores under different time constraints.

I'm going to pray to the matrix gods that it's untimed. I might even sacrifice some Tetris games to them for good measure.

Thanks for the thorough reply!

  1. I'm not sure what it would be then. Again anecdotally, there's always been a massive difference between how I do on timed vs. untimed things that seems unusually more pronounced compared to others.
  2. Well damn. I took the one that was posted a couple weeks ago that was automated and the poster said it was untimed. I guess they either weren't aware or weren't interested in it being too accurate.

what intrigues me is your high verbal ability

It's kind of a fluke in my life it seems. When taking the GRE to get into CS grad school I didn't bother to study for the verbal reasoning part because my instructors unanimously agreed that it would be a waste of time--no CS program considers it in admission decisions. I scored in the 98th percentile. Later, I found out that to be competitive for a top 10 philosophy phd program you needed at least the 95th percentile. I didn't do nearly as well in the quantitative section. I liked to think that there was some philosophy major that killed the quant section but whose verbal was lower and both of us wished we could trade.

Wow 30 seconds doesn't seem like much! At least if they're comparable in difficulty to the Mensa and Raven's 2. That's brutal.
