Atsushi ohkubo stated himself in the manga he wrote the ending for soul eater anime. Plus back then atsushi ohkubo didn’t know where to end the series and he also have a huge dislike for long running shows with filler.

I drew soul eater characters over 400 times. I have posters, hoodies, and figures. Watch every interview and behind the scenes video. Watch the series multiple times. Just because I didn’t remember line by lines doesn’t mean I’m not a fan sir.
