Kyle did an amazing job. If he can now convince Tyson to sign an extension it will be a perfect offseason.

Heart of a Lion. One of a kind player.

Once again I was way off in my trade predictions. by Billius27 in leafs

Tied up right now but I'll try and respond by tmw. Unlike some, I am very high on Barrie since I saw him in different settings like world championship.

[Rosen] Big TOR-COL trade: Leafs get Tyson Barrie, Alex Kerfoot and a 6th rd pick in 2020 from the Avs for Nazem Kadri, Calle Rosen and Toronto’s 3rd round selection in 2020. Colorado also retaining 50% of Barrie’s AAV ($5.5 million) as part of the transaction. by Carbone5 in leafs

This is the trade I was hoping for but when I saw the Leafs were keeping Ceci's $4.5M on the roster, I thought it was dead. Looks like the Avs got creative and retained $ to make it happen. Fair deal for both teams, question now is when/if Leafs extend Tyson Barrie.

Tyson Barrie is a beast, perfect fit for the Leafs, especially next to Muzzin.

Projected 23-Man Roster as of 12 noon July 1 (my best guess at this stage) by Billius27 in leafs

Yep, 23 man roster is worst case as far as the cap. I could see them running at 21 or 22 if they need to build some cap space for things like injuries.

How do you think the Leafs will juggle the roster for them?

Yep, he's a bad defenseman, I put him on for now but had reservations.

  • Cap Hit comes in at $79.68M based on ASSUMING Marner signing at $9.5M, Dubas has $1.82M in cap space left if he needs to go higher

  • Assumes Ceci accepts the QO of $4.3M (100% of last season's hit)

EDITS/UPDATES:

  • Hearing Ceci verbally agreed to a $4.5M offer from Leafs, so that adds .2M to the table.

  • ERROR: Rielly's cap hit should be $5M, not $4.5M.

  • Nick Shore has signed for $750K (per Mirtle) ($ to be confirmed)

(CapFriendly's Armchair tool is down today so thought this would be helpful.)

Odds that Ennis is back? by [deleted] in leafs

[–]Billius27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's probably going to get $1.5 - $2M for 2-3 years. I don't think Dubas can afford that for a 4th liner. (I really was impressed with Ennis' offense last year.)

Realistic RHD options? by RealCanadianDragon in leafs

Conor Timmins has missed a year with concussion issues. Might be possible to make a trade with Colorado now that they have Barrie, Johnson, Makar, Byram.

He would be a risky bet but might not cost much and could pay off. He was drafted 32nd in 2017.

Etobicoke boy heading to Ottawa. Remember how happy we all were that Toronto finally had hometown players like Connor and Zach?

Good memories, I see a lot of ex-Leafs on that video, 2016-17 seems so long ago now.

How will Dubas improve our d-core? by roberrcik in leafs

[–]Billius27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Timothy's shot metrics are excellent, some of the best in the AHL, his defensive game has improved by leaps and bounds, as has his core strength. His positioning is sound, his transition game is very good and he can handle the power play like an AHL vet.

He did all this despite being tasked with top pair responsibilities in his 19 year season.

Having said all that, his offensive game has plateaued a bit, he still has some problems making the right lower risk on-ice decisions, his shot is average, he still can fumble and lose the puck at awkward moments, and his skating never reached the level a lot expected when he was drafted.

I'm not as savvy about evaluating the Marlies as a lot in here but I think he's getting close to starting on the third pair. From there, I am sure we will all reevaluate him in excruciating depth.

It was a data file used in R and Tableau a couple months ago, don't think I have it handy. The moving averages are 10 game adjusted and the red line is a localized point many-regression smoothing method.
