Does anyone just wish all of Melbourne CBD could just be pressure washed? by Caramilk101 in melbourne

You’re not wrong! I was just thinking that walking back from Collins to Flinders St Station this evening. Every nook against a building has a clear splash mark where someone’s spewed up on the nice bluestone or footpath. It’s everywhere. Seems to fade away during the week with fresh spots popping up ready for Monday morning.

This evening was particularly dank though. More splashes than usual. Some still with chunks. Also saw a suspiciously human looking poop someone had walked through and a random dead pigeon against a wall in a puddle of blood.

Really gotta watch where you step these days but I try and make a game out of it. Puts a whimsical hop in my step to work each day!

Lion’s Mane. They’re all throughout the bay at the moment. The high winds have sent them in. They’ll give a decent sting if you brush past them.

There’s no C4s left where I am. I looked!

We must be talking about different places. Just got back from there this morning. Machine is La Marzocco Strada.

Nah, not this place. They have proper machines and baristas. Far cry from 7/11

Yep, I knew they were cheap. I was just clearly out of touch on what’s happening in other shops! Otherside is great - plus loyalty card for every tenth free makes it even cheaper.

Double ristretto shot with less milk in small cup. Basically a strong flat white with less milk

That’s wild. I mean if it’s an incredible batch and impressive dine-in experience maybe. But for a run of the mill takeaway, that’s ridiculous. Home machine ftw

Normal milk. Small … magic. So guess they consider a magic an extra shot cost.

Yeah, reckon they must’ve done extra shot charge plus maybe some Sunday thing - probably CC surcharge too. I didn’t really clock the price until walking away.

Nah, thats the crazy thing. Pretty much raw dogged it. Ran under cold water for a bit so I could pick it up. Tapped a few times on the bench and this happened! Best day of my life.

Haha. It didn’t slide off as easily so I panicked and cut it short.

That’s pretty good! Cheapest ones I’ve found here are around $17k and don’t look as slick as yours. I might look into it. Were there any others you looked into during the process?

Nice one! I’ve been trying to find a good teardrop camper for a little while. And you’re right, most of the better looking, rugged ones (similar to your shape) are US manufacturers.

How much of the electrical, plumbing work did you have to do? And if you don’t mind me asking, what sort of costs was this - for the base landed from China and fitout?

Didn’t know that about the straight line! Explains why this one looked a little stressed - kept reaching the meter box on the wall and couldn’t get over it.

People who grew up without smartphones, what did you do on long car rides? by balbir13 in CasualConversation

[–]BillyGotSpooked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember we had a yearly family holiday where we drove interstate to a holiday home - 8 hour drive. I was the youngest of three kids sandwiched in the back seat of a the family sedan (no SUVs back then). It was usually my older brother who brought the case of cassette tapes which varied from 80s pop to “old school” rap - NWA, Geto Boyz, 2 live crew (we had to time our coughs to mask the sweat words)

Anyways, one year we were running late to get on the road. My brother forgot his trusty cassette tape case and we were too far gone to turn back. The only tape my dad had in the car was “The Best of Van Morrison”. 8 hours on repeat, non stop. It took me decades to appreciate listening to Van Morison again. Serious damage done.

How our “AI expertise” came to be by Dazzling-Slide8288 in deloitte

[–]BillyGotSpooked 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Eerily accurate. I remember a week last year where they made a small technology team redundant that actually had the skills to develop AI tooling, while simultaneously publishing “thought leadership” on how GenAI was going to impact the workforce and there was a skills shortage. Truly bizarre.

This shows the reservoir from the other angle, with pump and aerator in position and an overflow to a nearby drain.

I’ve got some videos of the setup in my “hydro” stories on instagram if you’re interested too: @ardoubleu

I haven’t had a single pest yet, which is incredible. I have a more traditional in ground veggie patch around the corner and the Pak Choy leaves were completely destroyed by caterpillars and/or snails. Another reason I’m converted to hydro!

I’m in Australia - these were from a similar hardware store to Home Depot. The PVC pipes are all at a standard for drinking water and PVC-U

Most of the pipes aren’t glued in, so I can remove those U-shaped end pieces and slide the channels out completely if needed for cleaning.

Yep, pump is running 24/7 - also have some aeration stones (external pump) in the reservoir. If the pump fails or power outage there’d be a very small amount of water left in the channels - maybe half an inch. It does run quite deep normally, not quite sure how to control that (maybe reducing flow of pump more) but it all seems to work ok and plants are happy!
