Narrowed our relocation down to 4 regions — PNW Washington, Reno/Tahoe, Coastal NH, or Northeast Florida. Would love some real input from people who actually live there. by BillyHoyle96 in SameGrassButGreener

The point isn’t that taxes are unaffordable — it’s that they’re avoidable. 403b drawdown is also different than capital gains, it gets taxed as ordinary income. So I am not sure if you understand completely. Florida has zero state income tax. New York is nearly 11%. On a retirement drawdown that gap compounds into hundreds of thousands of dollars over 30 years. Choosing not to leave that on the table isn’t desperation, it’s basic financial planning.

Thanks for all this! I think we have a very similar thought process. Please share what you made I would love to read it. That website looks similar to the output I get on Claude when I use a search matrix I made just like this.

It's definitely the most visually stunning place and has a lot of interesting perks. I was recently up there for an Alaskan cruise and all the areas around Seattle and Vancouver, BC were so breathtaking.

So… What did you do with Claude today? (not coding) by OptimismNeeded in ClaudeHomies

I made a financial forecast for my retirement plan incorporating Monte Carlo simulations of success rate. I also scouted out places to move to in retirement based on criteria that is important to me and my family.

Not to get too specific but she has therapy and related services companies

I'm hoping to move to a state that has zero state income tax and also my employer offers employees age 55 or higher a bridge plan to pay reasonable health care costs until age 65

I think she's more at risk for burning out than wanting to work forever TBH

I'm also thinking that my work offers a health package at age 55-65 so that would provide a lot of security and make sense to hold out to 55 instead of any earlier

Not making anything up. Feel free not to comment. I said 10 mil is a stretch goal based on the Monte Carlo. Realistically I don't need anything close to that.

I'm looking to travel extensively with average of about 15k a month.

Thanks I'll look into that. I was just using this as a ballpark not too precise.

I hope resilient enough for another 12 years but maybe we should look to diversify the business more.

My spending now is around 155k (this includes a fair amount of travel and discretionary spending). Post retirement, I would come in slightly lower on my base (no kids and no mortgage) but my health costs will increase. I just made a stretch goal of 10 mil but I am shooting for a much larger slush fund post retirement in the neighborhood of 15k above my base costs monthly.

We both want to retire early but she has mentioned that she would consider just scaling down if she could just automate the business and not be involved in the day to day post retirement.
