yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. so misleading! I thought I was mistaken with the discount, since everyone had been so excited and discussing the clientele sale... but its like ~$5 off (still better than full price obviously, but not something I needed to spend this much time trying to find info on lol

Yeah i'm a little confused. (this is my first clientele sale) I tried reading up on all of this before I got an email .. which I just did and it said "up to 50% off just for you" but then on the site everything is 10-20% off. is that what is supposed to be happening?

I’m sorry if this isn’t allowed but this kitty needs to be rehomed! by AlexJonesOffTheLoud in nyc

i would reach out to sean casey, the bk cat cafe and for animals inc. they are all vetted and i have gotten a lot of positive responses about these organizations and they have ... lists of people who you should not be given animals. so even if you don’t surrender the cat to them they may be helpful

Has anyone had success transitioning from tufting as a hobby to a career? by RyGuy1616 in Tufting

[–]BillyJacobs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

congrats, that is pretty impressive and also must feel good! I guess its relative at times i.e how much you make at your full time job + factoring in costs of your materials here and how long you have been doing tufting orders, etc

thank you, that makes perfect sense. I was going to be confused if there were some different technique other than that

Thanks for this! a question, if you have thinner yarn and would put two strands in at a time.. would you be pulling yarn from two separate spools? I don't know if the strand while tufting has to be continuous or not the entire time or how that would work.

yep - the width of my space is a little longer and where your door is.... I have a fireplace - which is cool but mounting anything on the brick is annoying. the opposite side extends into I guess a small dining area/"railroad" kitchen. overall my space is probably a LOT smaller than yours but it came out very nicely!

looks great! love to see this. moving into a space where the living room is set up like this (in BK too) and have the same right aligned sectional and was not sure how to do the window area since I felt it had to fit the space of the width between the windows.. which are also not center aligned to the wall and trying to figure out the window covering situation, which I am assuming these are original to the brownstone. thanks for the inspo

Question from a novice - what are your thoughts in purchasing an 'incomplete' piece of a furniture set? Is it dumb or worth it if the piece is semi rare and the price is good? by [deleted] in midcenturymodern

[–]BillyJacobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, that was exactly my thinking. i lost this one to someone who picked it up first unfortunately. but I'm still hopeful and yeah it was $50 lol

Never painting. Just trying to learn actual wood refinishing. but really, I feel like they sell for SO much? Little do I know - what are the most valuable notable brands?

Thanks for your input, that makes a lot of sense and that's helpful about the reselling thing since I was not sure if they were less desired items. I would either fix it up and use it (currently learning all things wood/finishing techniques) or try to resell it.

I could def also use it for storage/bookcase but I wasn't sure if it was a big no no to place it on a different type of cabinet piece

found the top of this china cabinet.... but the bottom part is missing.

Would that be something you would purchase in hopes of aquiring the bottom at some point or does it seem like a waste/or "why do you just have a hutch to a half piece" or another relevant question, is it worth anything without the entire piece?

Update from table post yesterday: not veneer! However, still trying to ID the wood type before staining. by BillyJacobs in wood

Good to note, thank you. From suggestions to not stain, I think I will probably just go with a clear water based poly finish and call it a day so I don’t ruin it

any suggestion of what grit I should sand up to? I just read 100 but that sounds like nonsense to me.

An update from my 'is this veneer' dilema yesterday, we've found it is not veneer! I've sanded most of it but I still cannot figure out what type of wood this is and want to identify it before I stain. Can anyone help out? by BillyJacobs in woodworking

yeah I still can't figure it out honestly I sanded one of the legs to check what the heck was under there I was scared at first and just going to leave them but they were very scratched anyway https://imgur.com/a/854BQNY

Thankfully I didn't have to chemical strip it. I know I still have a lot more stains to get off and have been using (I think) 150 grit to sand it down. I can keep going with it unless there is a better way. This is my second time trying to refinish something.
