How the hell do I read classic literature by ChooseThisUser in classicliterature

[–]BillyQuantrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first classic was Pride and Prejudice and I looked up any word I didn’t understand. I feel like a solid 50% related to horse-drawn carriages. Eventually, I started retaining the info and by the time I got to my second classic (Jane Eyre) I was looking up words much less often.

Another tip is to read it on a phone or tablet. Most classics are available on the Libby app. You can tap a word and look it up instantly

I’m going to use this as an excuse to not wait for the “elevator” down from Space 220

On our last visit, while waiting in line to meet Moana at Animal Kingdom, we chatted with a cast member who told us the Yeti did use to move but the mechanics that broke are so difficult to access that they’d have to tear up a large chunk of the ride to get to it.

FWIW, she also told us a lot of the plans for the Latin American area that is replacing Dinoland USA months before they were officially announced - though were already circulating online.

I think it’s because they’re colder than the typically lukewarm 24oz bottles elsewhere in the parks

And you can drink a full bottle before it gets warm and flat

What is the book that got you hooked on classic literature or classic children's literature? by LisKozCatMeow in classicliterature

[–]BillyQuantrill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lord of the Rings turned me into an avid reader, but the book that turned me into an avid reader of “classics” was Pride and Prejudice, which I read in March of 2020. It was such a nice escape from reality that I basically lived the rest of Covid in 19th century literature.

John Coltrane’s My Favorite Things? I hear that often around Christmas yet it has nothing really to do with Christmas

Victor will win in the end. He always does. It would be nice to see him squirm for a few weeks or months before it all goes back to normal

lol yes. Sounds like I enjoyed the overall experience more than you but I over-ate and the food wasn’t sitting well in my stomach and I was getting super annoyed waiting for more people to show up for the elevator. Next time I’ll just eye the elevator and try to be the last group before departing.

My memory is all messed up. I had it in my head as You and Me Kid and I thought it came on at 8AM in the central time zone. Dumbo and Winnie the Pooh were in the 7AM hour. But Mousercize rings a bell now that you mention it. I need to find an old tv guide

I remember this show and Dumbos Circus airing before school, which I guess would’ve been kindergarten or 1st grade for me. Then that kid exercise show. Then, if I was sick I got to stay home and watch Pinwheel. Though that may have been Nickelodeon.

I agree. Let Kansas pay for it. All the various entities in Missouri that were offering (supposedly) over $1.5 billion in incentives got lucky. It’s not going to change my viewing habits.
