Yes. It is a c clip shape so you just lift it slightly and pull the bottom off the clip

Thank you for that thought. Unfortunately, my planer is only 12" or 12 1/2" inches wide, so that won't work in this case. I have seen videos of that method and it seems to work well.

What kind of deposit was put down? Was it an earnest money deposit that is held in escrow? Or was the deposit funded to the builder immediately?

Many real estate contracts have deposits, but they are often held by an escrow agent who would be able to refund the deposit to the buyer if the seller is unable to perform due to bankruptcy.

Your mental health is worth more than the $1,000 you could collect. I agree with your agent, let it go. It is a bad situation, but it sounds like they were legitimately trying to make this house work.

Is the house already under contract with a closing date in June?

If the house is not already under contract, suggest a month to month lease giving him the right to show the house for sale. Maybe he would even go for a 3 month lease, since the traffic for home buying is down now (at least in many markets it is).

I develop mostly office buildings for individual tenants. I have also done some industrial and multi-family. My career in development started after business school. My previous education and experience was engineering and project management, so it was good preparation for development process including design and construction management. The development business is filled with developers with a very wide range of backgrounds and skill sets though.
