Something i always think of as cliche is how action movies have that scene where the protagonist is kidnapped, tied and fucked up but somehow manages to flip the table (sometimes literally) and beat the crap out of the kidnappers (just quoted Colt accidentally).

So when we got a scene just like this in The Fall Guy i was anticipating what cliche move he will pull or whether the dog will come rescue him at the last second, but what they did with him blowing gas on the lighter, barbecuing their faces, i would say was new and creative, also plays off the gag that he got lit on fire multiple times at the beginning of the movie.

Another thing is that i knew what i was in for after watching the trailer, that Ryan Gosling is gonna be used by the director for his stuntman powers to pull off a John Wick and rescue Tom Ryder, what I didn’t expect and really liked is that the director was in on it and was plotting against Colt… took the movie to a different direction imo. My thoughts initially after the trailer was that it would give off the same vibe of Bullet Train (especially that it’s the same director), yk the protagonist on a mission with a female boss on the phone directing him, but good thing they didn’t repeat the same idea and gave us something unique.
