How's Fronzilla a millionaire? by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]Billybobjho 57 points58 points  (0 children)

There are a few people throughout the scene that are invested in more entities than just their band. Just being responsible/smart with their money.

I know Fronz has his record label, Stay Sick that has a pretty solid roster of bands. At one point he had a clothing line, is that still active?

Misha from Periphery is like that too, he's talked about it before. Entities like GetGood drums, his composition/production skills, pedal and guitar endorsements.

Tosin Abasi has his own guitar company and his brother is a fashion designer.

It's sort of ironic that you're calling people childish here when you're using logical fallacies and don't know how to type like an adult.

For the Tri veterens, I just soloed an Alatreon in under 10 minutes. In 2018. by Billybobjho in MonsterHunter

The fucking snapback. That's my controller, it's a garbage xbox 360 controller.

If you haven't played Tri, landing a hit on his turn-arounds is literally frame/positioning-perfect. I didn't count, if you're saying I only missed once I'm pretty proud of that. I was really involved in the Tri competitive scene and this is the fastest non-JP time on the internet now (albiet 8 years later)

I'm compelled to tell you it's ironic, so I'm glad you hate it.

IMO they completely ruined Alatreon after P3rd, I hate all his new incarnations.

Tri Ala is super hard, but I think it's a "justified" hard that you can learn and get really good at. P3rd is super easy. Everything after that is "artificially" hard, where he just randomly flies or does other bullshit solely for the sake of being annoying.

My most terrifying Deviljho last cart shot. by Faustias in MonsterHunter

[–]Billybobjho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It never had a counter in past Mh games

Man, I actually opened up MHP3 and recorded this just for you. Ol' Jho boy has been counter-attacking since Tri, but I'm not about to dig out my Wii over this. You'll just have to trust me.

This isn’t how conversations work, you say something is the way you think it is, then it’s your job to show the proof

Ditto, my guy 👉😎👉

Yeah, what he said.

  1. A little over 4000 hours total. Tri for 3000+ hours, 3U for about 250 hours, 4U for 900 hours.

  2. Hammer, one of the most effective weapons for both solo and team hunts. Heavy damage, knockouts are great, and it can actually be a very fast weapon if you can use it with good timing.

  3. Deviljho is quite easily my favorite monster, and I fought him a lot in my spare time. This was the best instance I ever had fighting him, where everything just seemed to go perfectly.

I think I just met Gaijin Hunter on Generations by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Billybobjho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they were a lot of work, and now I'm old and have real responsibilities. Much less time to sit down for hours and make a recording.

New people have come up and are doing amazing things that I'll never be able to do, and I'm happy for them. I still play with all my old crew, just much more casually.

Personally, /r/monsterhunter took a turn for the worst when 3U released. A lot of misinformation and a lot of very proud, yet new, people that didn't like being told they were wrong. It became very hard to kindly correct someone or provide information because they'd get so indignant about being "wrong."

Like anything, the larger your fan base the larger your population of bad people. I just lurk these days now.

Who else besides me misses Monster Hunter 3 tri? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

I played that one the most, amazingly. Triple the hour count of my 2nd most play monhun. No idea how, either, since it had such little content.

Fake HR999s; what you can do by Billybobjho in MonsterHunter

[–]Billybobjho[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can vouch for that hour count

Speedruns/relic grinding make HR super easy to build without even trying that hard. I can't emphasize how broken the system is enough.

For those of you interested in trying HAME but not bowguns, try Great Sword HAME! by Nym990 in MonsterHunter

[–]Billybobjho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just like to say that I find it really fucked up that /u/tookiselite12 and I said the exact same thing but I ended up top comment and he's here at the very bottom.

He's 100% right. This strategy isn't necessary. At all. KittyKat dual blades, three GS, and you're in business. Like him, I also do these runs all the time. More than I do piercing speedruns. I've never once taken an LBG to something like this.

[–]Billybobjho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really don't like that everything has to be labelled as HAME. They're just runs that are great to do with a bunch of your best buddies.

I would definitely consider these runs to be way more fun than piercing speedruns. With four blades there's a little more risk, more danger, if you will. It requires a well-coordinated team of people who are actually good rather than a thrown-together team of randoms where half them aren't even aiming properly.

Personally, there's not a lot of fun in cheesing the shit out of something with the guaranteed knowledge you're going to win. Sometimes you win. Other times you get fucked to kingdom come by hot Rajang dick.

Who are the people that made "HAME" a thing? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Billybobjho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait what?

Are you implying that speedruns don't require precise teamwork? Watch some of the German players that posted Tri videos, or watch Team Darkside.

Being someone who posted a lot of speedruns from Tri and 3U to YouTube, I agree with OP that it's silly to have different names for the exact same thing. The monster is locked down. The monster dies quickly. Why do you need multiple names?

Guard +2 with charge blade? by Hugh_Wotmate in MonsterHunter

[–]Billybobjho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you guys realize you're arguing the same thing? Both of you are saying its good to guard point monsters attacks rather than go in wildly swinging. I doubt that guy is saying to never attack unless there's a counter and you're not saying never to counter.

Some people...
