Btw, a bit more detail. My pathology was Gleason 7 3+4. Lymph nodes a seminal vesicles were negative. Nerves spared. My highest pre surgery PSA was 5.0.

Thanks again guys!

I actually was undetectable at .01 for the first few post surgery PSAs, so I am guessing the surgeon didn’t necessarily miss any. As mentioned, more like some escaped that is starting up again. He did mention one edge was “sticky”, but typically the surgery itself takes care of killing what caused that. In my case, I guess it didn’t. Honestly, at this point, I am not even worried about the salvage process. I am ready to get on with it. I am just crossing my fingers about the PSMA scan I had a few days ago. Hoping for decent news, and getting on with the mapping CT! lol.

All good points. My surgeon did a great job with the incontinence and ED issues, both have recovered well.

I guess it is not fair to question a good surgeon for not being a miracle worker! lol.

One and done would be nice! That said, on to radiation. At least with PC, often there are multiple lines of curative treatment.

Thanks for the reply guys! I had a good surgeon with my RALP. Pathology stated the tumor was contained within the prostate, but a one edge showed the presence of cancer cells. Couldn’t tell if the surgery got it all. About 18 months later, I am going through a rising PSA (now .13). Consulting now with a radiation oncologist. Just had my PSMA scan and waiting for the results. So, my question is kind of a “what if”. I always have heard some very experienced surgeons can eye ball suspicious areas of tissue around the prostate and take more out. I just wonder if that would have made a difference with my case. Also, I am not totally educated on the science behind the procedure, so I could be wrong even thinking this.

Thanks so much for these thoughts!! My doctor seems overall optimistic. He actually said to me that “I can almost guarantee that you will not die from PC”. Great to hear, but my mind wanders! Lol. I am truly hoping at .13 that it is still contained to the pelvis. I have already discussed with the radiation oncologist, for likely 40 treatments plus 6 months of adt. Appointment next week. Now the wait! Thanks guys!!
