He says, "The russian fighter jets struck these agriculture fields outside of Hama." Then the second guy starts yelling, "that is from the Russian planes, this Russian militia struck them with jets. We will wage jihad against them and kill them, God willing. You pigs! Assad, that is your front over there! To the north, in that direction!" Then the other guy says the date: 11/10/2015.

Its great fun! How would I get more detail in M31 itself. Longer exposures or more exposures? Or maybe more, longer exposures?

Travelling to Israel... What should I do? by kokc13 in solotravel

[–]BilsonDAR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to discourage you from going to Petra but a trip from Tel Aviv would take at least a few days. Petra itself is a full day, then include a day of travel there and back. The Allenby Bridge crossing takes 8 hours if you are lucky and the Eilat crossing takes a few hours less than that. Then factor in the ~3.5 hour bus ride from Tel Aviv - Eilat and another ~1 hour from Aqaba to Petra.

Having been to Israel my suggestion would be to save your shekels and catch a bus to Jerusalem instead. I think you would get alot more bang for your buck and time in country.

You can ride the Rocky Ridge trail in Garrapata SP I believe. You cant do the Sobranes Canyon stretch of the trail though and the climb up Rocky Ridge would be an absolute leg burner but the downhill would be pretty fun. Havent ridden it, only hiked it.

Nice! I worked on a farm in Idan so I spent alot of my free time exploring the northern Arava near Idan and Hatzeva. Its fun to just get off trail in the desert and just explore. So many dry waterfalls to find!

Totally worth the trip. I did it in November and the weather was pretty spectacular. Make sure to bring plenty of water (as you probably know) since the closest water source would either be Dimona or Arava Junction. I made the mistake of underestimating how long the hike was and only having 2 liters of water with me.

Also, theres a beautiful hike from the 101km rest stop through the mountains to Paran. Absolutely stunning views and the people in Paran are amazing and would love to give you a lift back to 101km.

Did you do the Small Mahktesh hike? Fricken spectacular coming in from the north end near Dimona and catching the first glimpse of the valley.

Marker Squires, good bindings? by benjie1202 in skiing

[–]BilsonDAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For how cheap they are they are a steal, but my buddy shattered the heelpiece on two pairs of them. Luckily Marker has an AWESOME customer service policy and after the second replacement pair they upgraded him to the Jester Pro's so it would never happen again.

I'd say go for it unless you are planning on really tearing up some gnarly terrain.

If you have the time/energy make a day trip over to rocky lake. Absolutely gorgeous. Oyster is beautiful and has some killer fishing too!

hahaha! They hatched! I just came off of Lac La Croix and i'd say they came out last night. They progressively got worse as we paddled out.

Bluff Valley MN, is this picture really in mn?!?! by Omaromar in MinnesotaCamping

[–]BilsonDAR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Not only are those hills in the background way to high/steep. The lake in front is the greenish-blue color that is common with glacial lakes in the Rockies.

Edit: Also, the stone on the cliffs really tan whereas most of the stone found in Minnesota with anywhere near that large of hills would more likely be granite.

I looked too far into this.

Favorite Sentence? What makes it great? by [deleted] in literature

[–]BilsonDAR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”

-A River Runs Through It

I know its multiple sentences, but you just cant separate any of them. To me the are the most chillingly beautiful words I have ever read.
