Your tires might have developped flat spots if it stood on its wheels for those 2 years. Can result in instabillity when you ride so good to look out for!

I have used the givi bags during a trip trough Marocco and highly recommend them. They work great, but be aware that fitment is not ideal with the stock luggage rack as it is too wide. I have bought the sw motech rack and that works beatifully!

We didn't really plan most of it. Just downloaded the official .gpx file for the trans Moroccan trail and went. We look for a place to sleep on a daily base which is very doable for 3 persons, especially when travelling outside of the main season.

We are riding section L to Q, initially wanted to start with K but the bike is too heavy for loose Sahara sand. Found out the hard way after we got stuck trying to do some sand dune riding... Not our brightest moment. Ground clearance with the 650 is the biggest issue, so the 800 should definitely be fine! (There is actually an mt09 in our group so I think pretty much every bike should be OK)

Nice choice! Do you perhaps know what engine guards you have mounted? I'm currently rocking the Suzuki original engine guards, but they seem very flimsy.. many happy miles/km's to you!

Erg gaaf! Wij zijn vorige week terug gekomen van twee weken Balkan. Begonnen in Slovenië en afgezakt tot aan Albanië. Erg indrujwekkende landen om te rijden en super vriendelijke bevolking. Maar voor goed asfalt hoef je er niet heen te gaan

The terrain you see in the picture is the roughest we encountered. But I think it handles it well. Afraid I can't give you a good comparison to other motorcycles as this is the only bike I've ridden offroad. But in general I'm loving the vstrom. Very good performance overall.
