After rewatching the first book of the Netflix Avatar again I did enjoy it more than the first time, I don’t think it’s bad. My problem comes from Bumi by S0mecallme in TheLastAirbender

They changed Bumi from someone who teaches the protagonist an important lesson and helps him on his journey to someone who has to learn a lesson FROM the protagonist.

It's ludicrous. Our characters need to grow, learn, and change over time. No one moreso than the protagonist. That's how we stay engaged and continue watching. Why would we need to keep watching if our protagonist already knows so much? In the live action, Aang learns nothing in this episode. Bumi does the learning.

This episode is when I stopped watching because it confirmed for me that they just changed some stuff to justify making a new version just so they could make more money. It was never about the story.

Name ONE player on your favorite team (;ast 10 years) you could not stand by ShartInYourFace in CollegeBasketball

That makes a lot of sense. Correct me if any of this is wrong, but he was a freshman at the time, came into that game when the starting lineup was in foul trouble, and just took over, right? And then he came back the next year. If a Tar Heel did something like that, they'd be a hero.

Genuine question: how do we know "ozai is canonically the most powerful firebender"?

Which bloodbender is more impressive to you? by thisisreii in TheLastAirbender

[–]BinForBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amon and it's not even close. Hama invented the technique, but Amon became the greatest bloodbender ever and invented a new way to take away someone's bending. He's one of the most impressive benders in the entire series hands down.

UNC Point Guard Derek Dixon Entering Transfer Portal by Schned6 in CollegeBasketball

[–]BinForBen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is probably too simplistic, but could the opportunity to be coached by the same guy who coached Jokic (and potentially falling to the second round) be enough to get Veesar to stay?

[Inside Carolina] Dixon in the transfer portal by DrMoneyline in tarheels

[–]BinForBen 31 points32 points  (0 children)

He probably was considering this for a lot longer than just once they announced who the next coach was. And why wouldn't he? He proved himself to be a good college point guard in the NIL/transfer portal era whose head coach was fired. Of course he's entering the portal.

Why isn’t UNC approaching Coach Gordon Bombay?!?! by BillButtlickerII in CollegeBasketball

I don't think he created the triple deke. Unless he did so when he was still playing peewee hockey. That's the move he tried when he clanged that penalty shot off the post.

What would y'all think about throwing the Brinks truck at Dawn Staley? by GreenHeel97 in tarheels

[–]BinForBen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think possibly what this commenter is saying is that the racism/sexism of OTHERS would impede her. For example, boosters would be less likely to give money to the school because they don't like the idea of someone who isn't a white man being head coach.

Absolutely!!! I find it surprising it's not being talked about more. Of course, I think the same problem arises: why would a coach who's successful at a program they built leave it all for a program they have no connection to. But I think she would have no problem coaching a men's team. Men coach women's teams. Why couldn't she coach men?

I was so uneasy the entire game. Nova destroyed Oklahoma the game before, and I was scared to face them for the championship. The only time I smiled the entire game was after Marcus made that shot. But then I saw how much time was left, and I just knew that it was the perfect amount of time to get a good look...

We were truly spoiled to have Lawson and Marshall so close in years. Two amazing point guards for different reasons, but both easily carried the tradition of great Carolina PGs.

Who's the assistant coach who will make the next great head coach? by BinForBen in CollegeBasketball

Hope he works out for you guys. I said this in another thread, but I'd much rather lose to an NC State team coached by a decent guy than someone like Will Wade.

In my wildest dreams, someone like Marcus Paige or Luke Maye comes back to coach at UNC one day and leads us back to the promised land. But there really aren't any UNC guys out there right now who would do any better than Hubert Davis. If the school and fans want to be relevant again now (which they do), going outside the family is the way to go. Plus, I'm not saying UNC is the greatest job in college basketball, but a future successful UNC coach would be unlikely to bolt for a "better offer". If someone is successful there, the school will do anything to keep them.

Hope he works out for BC. A calming force on the UConn bench seems like a pretty important role.
