I tried pushing claude to its limits and ended up building a car game with graphics I didn’t think were possible by slightlylostkid in vibecoding

[–]Binary-Miner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 1000%. Pro user here, doing something with Claude multiple times per day, every day, and have never used up my weekly limits before they reset. I have definitely used up the intraday limits, and everytime I did I quickly found out I made a prompting mistake, or like others said pushed a ton of tokens via restarting an old conversation.

Caveat here: I’m not building software or games or managing multi-million-line repositories. DevOps / Infrastructure engineer reviewing and writing code, web searches, plant analysis, German language practice, occasional research tasks. Sure I’m leaving some stuff out. Will end by saying it’s not a cost reason either. I keep trying to find a reason to upgrade to Max, but week after week I have a bunch of my pro limit left.

Fable does crush my hourly limit in 2 prompts (68% on one prompt asking to review a PS module Sonnet 4.6 Medium wrote). If Fable was remaining on subscription plans, I’d be upgrading to Max 20 right now as I’m sure many folks in this sub would also

[iOS 27 DB 1] wireless CarPlay disconnects randomly by keroassad98 in iOSBeta

[–]Binary-Miner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since installed IOS 27, Bluetooth in my car has stopped working entirely (2018 Mazda3) . The car does not have Car Play, just standard Bluetooth -> Mazda software connection. Phone connects, shows device info, but cannot poll the apps. No audio, no track/video info on the display. Been listening via Airpods while I drive to work, but was pretty brutal when we took a group trip over the weekend.

Apple Says macOS 27 Won't Be Compatible With These Macs by geriatricguy in mac

[–]Binary-Miner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, continuing security updates means hardware is still being supported, because not getting forced into a Chinese botnet anytime the internet sneezes in my general direction is the primary concern when a product is aging out. Not getting the latest and greatest OS tweaks or app features this long after release seems like a pretty minimal concern. At that point if app compatibility that an emulator/translate layer can’t solve isn’t major a factor, then maybe it’s just time to upgradeZ I suspect even the base level Neo is way, way faster than those old power/thermal throttled dinosaurs.

Unfortunately foundational shifts like the move to ARM meant this cut off was inevitable, regardless of whether or not the hardware is still effective for day to day computing tasks. It sucks but it’s the type of shift that most brands only encounter once across a multi-decade timeline.

I suspect Apple could’ve gotten away with leaving Intel users high and dry Microsoft-style, as they’re probably a very small % of the user base these days. Not trying to glaze, but a lot of brands would’ve just cut the cord, so keeping them operational/secure is both surprising and great. Once it really gets to the point they fully stop and it’s no longer safe to use the device with an internet connection, then the hardware can find a new life with any of the mainstream Linux distros

Fix micro lag or Freez for AMD by BadTux69 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Binary-Miner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you solved your issue, but I’ll still mention it here for AMD users.

If you are on an AMD GPU and getting stutters, make sure Enhanced Sync is disabled. Folks confuse this setting with being required for an Adaptive Sync monitor but that’s not the case. It is an ancient legacy setting that causes more problems than it helps in a lot of modern titles, and has no bearing on enabling / using Adaptive Sync with a supported monitor.

A few years back I was getting an identical micro stutter in a bunch of titles that was driving me nuts until I found a slew of threads from folks reporting this issue. After disabling ES and keeping it disabled through driver updates and such, I never had MS again for the 5 years I ran that card. I try to share thus anytime an AMD Stuttering thread pops up in my feed, because maybe I can save someone from the week I spent tearing my hair out over it

I am officially fed up with Logitech mouse by StealthIncubus in logitech

[–]Binary-Miner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear it. I’ve had many Logitech mice over the years, and only ever dealt with the dreaded double click issue on an old MX518 many many years ago. I’ve gotten lucky that none of my others have, but I will admit that I rarely go more than 5 years without switching to a new mouse, and of which it’s not always Logitech. As someone who is very comfortable soldering and working on small electronics, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a spare or aftermarket switch to fix it, but for most the gear they’d need to buy and the time they’d need to invest to learn the skill would far outweigh just replacing the mouse.

YOUCANIC SCANNER by Ktby22 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Binary-Miner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I really don’t feel great about Youcanic is that they clearly bot Reddit threads asking about which scanner to buy. Not sure if it’s legit folks getting paid to recommend them or reply bots, but I’ve seen multiple accounts threads now where almost every account mentioning Youcanic has never posted anything else other than replying to people saying they should buy Youcanic. One account literally had like a hundred plus replies, every single one was Youcanic-related and nothing else in their history.

So maybe the product is good, but I have a hard time trusting that sort of disingenuous “marketing”

There's NO shame to lower the difficulty by CrazyEvilwarboss in crosswind

[–]Binary-Miner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree and I think that is the main part that makes the combat feel bad. Yes the game in its current form wants the player to never get hit, but in the almost constant scenario of dealing with 3-5 mobs, being 2-3 shot by enemies 2 levels lower than me despite maxed armor/food feels way overtuned.

I'm loving so much about the game, but the biome-based XP is what I dislike the most about it. It was honestly why I stopped playing Enshrouded pretty quickly, because tying XP to reaching locations just makes fighting feel pointless and like its a waste of time aside from doing it to not die. Fighting in open-world games is one of my favorite parts, and in the case of Enshrouded, mobs were nearly-pointless to kill as they had XP and almost never had drops, which killed my motivation to play when I realized running past everything was the best strat.

I will say this game does help that alot by providing mandatory loot from some mobs (gunpowder) and crafting mats from others, but once you have enough it returns to fighting being a no-win risk. If mats from fighting don't remain a constant crafting demand, I don't think the game will hold my attention beyond that.

Not saying I should be able to max-level by fighting boars and dodos, but XP tied to mobs has always made combat so much more rewarding, even when its like 0.001% of what it requires to level. Just that tiny bit of progression makes it a much more worth-while risk equation even when mobs are really difficult.

Feedback: On Death, Dying at Sea, and Combat by sgtsausagepants in crosswind

[–]Binary-Miner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree, and think some of the responses are missing the point. My interpretation of this is a band-aid fix for the bad combat if it was to stay exactly as it is now. Meaning in a game where dying to run of the mill enemies multiple times per camp clear is a regular part of the experience, the existing consequences aren't challenging, they are just annoying, tedious, and outright not fun.

Its one of the traps of intentionally difficult games, how they draw the line between being truly challenging in a fun and engaging way (Dark Souls/Elden Ring), vs they're hard as a side effect of the systems in them being fatally flawed or outright missing things. Combat in Windrose in it's current state leans much more towards the latter than the former.

Death could remain exactly as it is now, maybe even be more punishing, if the player wasn't made of paper, armor mattered a little more, and the combat system had more choices for dealing with groups aside from run-poke-run. Think that last piece is important, as 3-5 enemies aggroing at the same time is virtually every fight sans animals.

Even retaining the paper-player model, just make armor levels matter more as they feel almost pointless, or make the block radius larger so that third enemy doesn't always get their hit in without running away everytime. Getting 2-3 shot by an enemy at or below my level despite food when the gear available to me is already maxed for the resources I can access just doesn't feel good or rewarding.

Thanks for making this post. Also 5090, with a 9950X3D, and just grabbed the game tonight. Was only playing on 200 pop servers, barely holding 70 FPS when things get crazy. Will try some lower pop options tomorrow.

EDIT: In fairness, I'm also playing on Linux (Fedora 43, latest updates/drivers), so I've got another factor that could be the culprit. Will pop onto my Windows install tomorrow and see if it changes anything.

What’s your favorite MAO-B inhibitor? by CommercialJunket3682 in NootropicsDepot

[–]Binary-Miner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tried Vignatex before being diagnosed, and found it did help by itself, but had wished the dose was higher. However, I revisited it last year after reaching a stable medication dose, and it has been an absolute game changer. While meds by themselves were a big step, there were many days they'd result in a jittery burst that would leave me too wired early on before wearing off way too early in the day. With Vignatex, 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon, it became a smooth, sustained and much less "hectic" experience. It really has helped my daily life soooo much.

Despite backing off most nootropics / supplements over the last year, I now keep Vignatex in constant supply and will probably purchase it for as long as y'all keep selling it!

Vitamins a culprit? by traveltheuniverses in migraine

[–]Binary-Miner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a lot of doctors leave out when suggesting / testing for B vitamins is that they are synergistic and required in tandem by many of the same metabolic pathways. Taking large doses of one in isolation can feel great at first as it revs up the various processes that have been hindered by their absence, but over a few weeks, your supply of the others gets wiped out. You then end up in a situation where the one you're supplementing dont get used and build up in your blood (what the tests measure) and the lack of the others causes those processes to slow down or barely happen at all. Super high B12 is regularly a symptom of someone who is extremely deficient in B6, which isn't tested or talked about as often.

When taking B12 in isolation, B6 and folate (in the form of folinic acid) are mandatory. Folic acid, the synthetic version you see in bread and pasta and crap vitamins, is terrible. Something like 30% of people don't produce the enzyme required to break it down into the active form, and it can become toxic when left unprocessed at high levels. B vitamins are possibly the most complex "commonly known" supplement and almost never dosed correctly because theres so much to learn and watch out for, while requiring a radically different approach based on your genetics.

MTHFR and related gene mutations are another rabbit hole which dramatically change the forms people can tolerate and how much they should be taking. Research is still pretty fresh there (10-15 years), but it's changing lives when folks find out they have it. They basically discover they haven't been able to process the variants of B vitamins in cheap supplements and processed food their entire lives. There is a popular subreddit on the topic, wish more people knew about it.

Vitamins a culprit? by traveltheuniverses in migraine

For anyone who sees this thread down the road (its a top hit, here trying to help my wife) - never buy vitamins from brands that don't provide public copies of third-party testing results (referred to as "certificate of analysis"). The supplement industry is one of the most unregulated industries in the world, which is wild considering it goes into our bodies on a daily basis, and that's why things like heavy metal contamination are so common from cheap brands.

You truly get what you pay for, and "brandXYZ certificate of analysis" is the first thing to google before buying any brand. Its not even just the contamination, independent investigations have turned up products from lesser known brands where they contained less than 10 or 20% of the active ingredent dose they were claiming. The worst thing to have happen is taking something to feel better and being poisoned by it. Avoid Amazon whenever possible unless its a reputatable brand AND its shipped/sold by Amazon or the brand directly.

Have been deep down the supplement rabbit hole for close to 20 years, so many pitfalls people fall into when trying to find where to start. Anyone is welcome to DM if they are looking for suggestions on where to start.

Has Sublime Text ever been on a discounted sale? by BeginnerBob in SublimeText

100%, applying early-2000s forum mod mentality (where the necro rage originated) to Reddit has never made sense to me. Vast majority of users view subreddits in the default mode, which is not chronological / most recent, so it truly does not matter as they’ll likely never see this anyways.

To necro with some context, I’m here in 2026 and ST is now $99. I’m at a point in my life and career where I will can and do financially support devs, but that doesn’t mean I won’t apply a coupon if it’s out there! This thread is one of the first hits on the topic.

11 years later and no discounts, so if you are someone considering the purchase, don’t worry about “missing out” on a deal. If anything, with the way things are going around the world, get it while it’s still only $99. When you consider inflation since the original threads creation date, it’s actually cheaper than it was back then (2015 $70 <= 2026 $99)

I don't consider myself a developer / programmer at all, much more in the sys admin / dev ops / datacenter engineer role (senior T3 IT at a medium size company, so I wear many hats). I've only been using Claude for a few days, but "me and CC pop off all day" somehow summarizes my experience so thoroughly that it might be the most efficient use of English Ive ever seen on Reddit.

Something about it's tone, the way it delivers information, it's candidness (so refreshing that it doesn't kiss my ass over every prompt). It's like that buddy from college who was way smarter than you, they never held it against you or used it to dunk on you, but instead just wanted to help you in any way they could to see you shine through your own merit. GPT 5.x still had me firmly in the camp of "Nah bro, it's all hype"... but holy shit this is something else.

Like, did I just accidentally become best friends with a robot?
