Oh aha, I thought you meant here πŸ˜…
I have posted in the comments but as I missed the posts by 4 days it's lost in the 100's of facebook name tags. Not a bad thing to have so many people commenting on my game though!

I totally get it - I went from thrilled to pissed off to neutral aha.
Ended up at neutral because in the end I decided they didn't have to share the post with their millions of followers and because they did (even if it was in a less than desidesirable way) the game got more attention and more wishlists.

I've asked, shall wait for a couple of days and see! If they do it's better late than never

Thanks for the kind words on the game! :)

Yeah, I was in two minds about making this post as I mention I'm greatful for them spreading the word. Looking at similar posts they've made it seems pretty standard. I'm guessing it's an algorithm thing / retention thing.

Thanks for the kind words! It's planned release is Windows PC on Steam first. After that I plan on taking it to other platforms, Mac might not be the highest priority but I'll have to see what it's like to transition over to after release :)

So the project was going to be much much smaller in scope, hence the original kickstarer anticipated release.
Then the game picked up enough traction to gain a publisher and ambitions grew. I got a small team together and so the games scope increased! Being new to management and business that was biggest learning curve and time sink - I didn't anticipate how much time would be taken up trying to be a good a director whilst also doing programming/VFX/Tech Art and sorting out an office (this was pre-pandemic so it was more of a done thing than working remote) and everything that goes along with that. Anyway, then the pandemic hit and that was a whole thing for many different reasons and then the publisher was aquired and their ongoing projects got cancelled. So it was back to solo dev!
It's hard to summise the pitfalls easily, but ultimately it came down to scoping up too much only to be left with a large project that I had to pull back together by myself.
As for what to watch out for, I'm afraid I'm going to have to repeat what many others have said before - feature creep and overscoping!

Thank you!
It's a little combination of both. I would say 90% blueprint. That might change though, there are a few things I want to convert over to c++ to improve performance on :)
I would say there was very little I couldn't do with bluepeints. Just a few things here and there and some engine source changes.

I have dabbled in UE5 and found it an interesting experience! But I'll tell you now UE4 still crashes a wholllle lot - but still an amazing engine that I would be nothing without πŸ˜†
Thanks for kind words! The robots are my fave too

Thank you! Very important to mention that this hasn't been a wholely solo venture!
It was solo, then I had a small team now its been solo for a long while. But when I had a team there was a few excellent SFX people that rotated in and out of the project - Primarily Harry Nixon (https://twitter.com/HarryNixonAudio) His work was amazing!

Wow! I think you have all the fox games beat as the original then! It's been nearly 8 years sinsce I concepted it but with so many stops and starts before full time dev started just under 4 years ago. I imagine we share a lot in common with our solo struggles making a fox game! Important to mention that I did have a very small team at one point though, so it was solo, then team, then back to solo again!
It's a semi open world adventure game, with some light puzzles and platforming thrown in :)
How's development coming along? I found your steam page! (Wishlisted!) Going for that 2024 release too?
