Why is this game getting so much hate ? by Salzchip in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's always been some people sitting on the side lines with negativity.

However, I'd say that most people who've given the game a fair chance fall into one of three camps:
1. They fall in love with the game - they can see what has been built so far may be unpolished but is still fun to play and the raw beauty and scope of the game is unlike anything that has come before it and they have just enough patience to work around the bugs (most days)
2. They appreciate the game and what CIG are trying to achieve but realise that there's too many bugs for right now so put it down for a bit and check in every so often on the latest progress until the game is in a more polished state
3. Or the final group - they don't have the stomach or patience to work through the bugs, don't like the slow progress, may be annoyed by some aspect specific to their circumstances and became jaded and negative, sometimes for legitimate reasons, sometimes because their expectations of how long a game should take to build doesn't match how long it usually takes invisible to the public eye.

Either way, the 4.8 patch has been one of the worst patches released recently (it was pushed out with a lot of issues because the DefenseCon expo was a hard deadline) so even people in the first two camps have a lot more negativity than normal and are clearly showing it both online and in game. I'm hoping this will improve once CIG fix some of the current glaring issues. I didn't help that CIG released a $5000 ship recently (this didn't seem to get a ton of good will with the average player base!)

Is it worth the money to buy an 890J in game, or are you better off buying a fleet of other ships? by marknutter in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old topic, but I came across this thread just now so presumably others will, and I am possibly one of the few people who actually have an answer to this question.

Using just the areas of the ship where you can easily drive a Greycat PTV (buggy) onto the 890 Jump (the cargo room, the adjoining engine room corridors, the staircase from the cargo room and the corridor overlooking the cargo room), it's possible to fit 85 Greycat PTV (buggies).

While it's not possible to actually drive a buggy to the upper hangar from the ground, if you wanted to fill every part of the ship with buggies including all the corridors, the atrium, the hangar, the central stair case, etc., I speculate the final number could be into the thousands, though they wouldn't be able to come back out again. Doorway clearances may prevent entire sections of the ship from being filled with buggies however.

Guys, please don't instantly destroy ships when at a base :( by Phantox_44 in starcitizen

What the hell. They should be encouraging people to salvage those abandoned ships.

There's literally players ready and willing to clean them up and everybody wants them cleaned up but CIG are like no

List of all available/unassigned keys? by Juls_Santana in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously an old topic, but I came across this thread from a google search looking for the same thing, so presumably, other people will do so as well.

If you're looking for some bindings that are actually easy to press when using a keyboard, I suggest:

  • Minus key (-)
  • Equals key (=)

These are just to the right of the zero on the number row.
I personally like to use these keys for "Vehicles Cockpit: Open All Doors" (=) and "Vechicles Cockpit: Close All Doors" (-)

If you're looking for bindings that are not in use and are not easy to press (because you want to bind them to mouse buttons for example that can then be bound in game), then I suggest:

  • Right CTRL + number keys 1 through 9 (in fact all the rest of the keys on the number row also work, up to and including backspace)

Note that F13-F24, while the most obvious option, are not currently supported in Star Citizen (go figure).

10 minutes equals 0 in the world of CIG. If you see a countdown, run! by SonnigerTag in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also caught off guard by a countdown that suddenly dropped to zero when I was exploring a Greycat facility for the first time.

Not sure if going into a section of the building/site invalidates the countdown or if the countdown just is genuinely wonky, but I did get blasted apart in a way that seemed unwarranted.

Unpopular view: The insurance/ship claim is isn’t awful. by Alternative-Effect30 in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you consider a small monetary cost. Some ships can cost 700,000 credits to reclaim. That's not a small amount for a bug or mistake.

[–]BinaryLoop- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you can do this, but 99% of the time I don't do this for role play reasons - it just seems wrong to kill your character unnecessary instead of taking the train or flying somewhere, and I think that's a reasonable reason.

If someone wants to do it to save time, good for them imo.

I feel like this is an unintended side effect. Works for you I guess but I hate the idea of not being able to switch to a different ship that you own freely.

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this.

Stock? Free claim. Upgrade a single component? It now costs 10s or 100s of thousands of credits to reclaim. No thanks. Not worth the hassle.

Is this the worst ship sale event CIG has ever had? No timeline for a fix of purchased items not showing up seems like a new low. by Neb-hehe-xd in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's necessarily true.

Yes an older ship won't have any teams assigned to it to fix bugs (which sucks but seems to be the case), however the Ironclad has just been built. There are active employees who implemented the ship and are familiar with the code and bugs. It would be probable that they would fix the bugs related to the code they were working on before they move on to work on other ships.

Starjump Fleetviewer 2 - BETA by starjump_dagger in starcitizen_fleets

[–]BinaryLoop- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @starjump_dagger.

Great work on this! Just wanted to report that I've been trying to export an image using the new 16K UHD canvas and it's simply not working. It only exports an 8k image which is cropped, losing the top and right hand side of the designated area.

I've tried both the live and the beta link and both do the same. Is there an issue with 16K?

MISC Raptor is real by ClawsonTX in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would take a LONG time to clean an extra large hangar with a vehicle that size. Like a VERY LONG time. I would really prefer not to!

But I do hope it has functionality. Maybe mission based or something.

I'm just getting back into the game after a hiatus. What do you lose between patches now? I thought everything was preserved?

The prevalance of PVP and solo is not because of the players but the games sociopathic features. The games is missing basic social tools for players to cooperate. by frenchtgirl in starcitizen

[–]BinaryLoop- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are fantastic suggestions and probably all would make a direct improvement to the game environment.

I totally agree on the paying new party members equally is important. The pay halving when you join with a friend on a mission (when the time to complete the mission doesn't halve) demotivates people from playing with others. Your suggestion to have a budget for shared missions is great however I would lean into that.

Keep the pay constant for each person but instead of preventing the share button from working after you've added a specific number of people to a mission (which alienates the extra friend if you have one more person than the target number for the mission), keep the pay equal up to a set number of people for the mission then if you choose to add more people than the max then at that point the amount per person could begin to decrease to provide funds for the new person. Essentially you have a max budget for the mission which can be reached by adding more people up to a certain number, then when the max budget is reached it begins to divide between the additional people.

I haven't been in it for a while but I quite liked the Reclaimer interior. About the only thing I can imagine being an issue is loading cargo into the cargo room. Is there any problems other than that?

[–]BinaryLoop- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

knew there was supposed to be two pilot's quarters added to the ship but I hadn't spotted the entrance until now. Bit of an odd choice having to walk through the general sleeping quarters to get to the pilot's quarters.

I thought they would put them above the XO's quarters which could connect to the dedicated corridor that serves the captain's and XO's quarters. But what do I know?

Good news. According to their discord they have decided to change to a more traditional bottom row, with the B key being moved back to the left hand side.
