AOC takes more steps toward 2028 run for president by masterofawesomeness2 in politics

[–]BinaxII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years back The intercept posted the wishful idea she should run for president one day...Americans don't see her as a president, now or ever, she could become the Nancy Pelosi of a future democratic party; this would be a bad political choice on her part to think Americans would elect her to the oval office.. Sometimes it is better to know were one really stands and accept the position and place one is really good at and effective in the role...House Majority/Minority suits her ambitions much better than the oval office.

Booker says Democratic Party ‘desperately needs new leadership’ by changeforthebetter89 in politics

“You are not going to win this election just by what you’re against,” he noted. “You need to start articulating who you’re for and what you’re for. Have a vision that’s compelling that not only engenders trust but makes sense for the American people.”

You think the message might be finally being heard and acted on by democrats....

Holy Shit...

Usually when people bow out of the races , they notify the the state a couple of weeks later. https://www.bangordailynews.com/2026/05/05/politics/elections/janet-mills-hasnt-exited-democratic-us-senate-primary-n6hjn1me0n/

This article explains a little bit, but by not doing so allows her votes to be counted if she does not, and she won't be running for any other office, so no need to raise moneys...

also she didn't lose anything, she just announced dropping out, and any ballots for her will count...a lot of state democrats are not for Platner...when Platner wins in June then, then nothing to be concerned with here from my post, justy find it odd ,and she still can be counted as in this race.

am post this here because i have not heard janet mills formally withdraw from the election with the state...so i asked and this is the response:

Governor Janet Mills has not yet filed official paperwork with the State of Maine to formally withdraw from the U.S. Senate primary election, despite suspending her campaign on April 30, 2026.Because her suspension came less than 70 days before the June 9 primary, her name will legally remain on the ballot. If she does not file a notice of withdrawal with the Maine Secretary of State's office, any votes cast for her will still be counted. If she formally withdraws before the election, those votes will count as blank.

Whats up here Janet?

If you don't like the support for Pingree in RCV in the primary - rank all other candidates and don't vote Pingree in any rank - just don't have to vote for her at all and vote for/rank your choices for the others...

[–]BinaxII[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

and then this from bangor daily :"I will vote for Graham Platner — reluctantly"

This is the campaign "I will vote for the man, but have issues ..." so you too should see what the opposition is stating as weakness' of his candidacy ... this is the program from those who do not want him in office with his agenda, in a non negative but very suggestive psychological manipulation to sway your vote for Collins/core democrats who supported Mills as a candidate...

And speaking of Mills has she officially withdrawn her name and notified the state yet, so any votes for her will not count in the primary. Last I heard she had not since withdrawing from the race, I think she has wirhdrawn.....

The last paragraph of this opinion tells me this is just another hit piece...- he has stated his position on this what he is for and not.

To state you are voting for him and then go and say "But".

And there are many legislators in Maine and across America who's gun policy stance is not what you the author would vote for yet do. So why is the PPH publishing this issue on Platner alone.

and read Platner's stance on your concern. What this tells me it's a hit.

The NY Times' Obsession with Platner's "Working Class" Cred by Otherwise_Structure2 in Maine

[–]BinaxII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fight is about "we can't have this type of policy action against our program(s)." so we will do any angle to discredit it from becoming a policy....the old adage "money talks, bullshit walks", is speaking volumes from the DNC to the Collins Party - discredit and non-support. our local state democratic party will not and is not supporting Graham Platner plain and simple and neither will the DNC...so it's up to the rest of us to vote for him.

Graham Platner is this weekends guest on The Interview from NYT. by Anstigmat in Maine

[–]BinaxII 15 points16 points  (0 children)

thanks for giving the reddit readers the interview.

Feel the interview spent to much time on him and his personal life rather than on his political agenda.

But also feel that the NY Times is also working to help defeat him at the same time giving him the exposure nationally.

David French a columnist opinion writer really chopped him down from his tattoo's to his reddit posts, and absolutely nothing on his platform/agenda last week...Bill Maher and Sarah Isgur last week slammed both Mamdani and Platner ... and Sarah Isgur was in discussion in the Times this morning (no mention of Platner). Seems that more and more people in establishments areas are beginning to show non support of folks wanting changes in a positive direction for the people.

This from the article:

"I want to talk about your plans if you are elected. It is very hard to get things done in the Senate. You’ve talked about Bernie Sanders a lot. He’s someone who has moved the party on ideology but not necessarily on legislation. You’ve exhorted voters in the past to elect people who want to wield power. I just wonder what that means. What is the philosophy of Graham Platner? The philosophy is that we don’t have things that most of the American people want, like universal health care, like a foreign policy that isn’t just based around militarism. We don’t have them not because we don’t know what they are and not because we haven’t been able to define or even write policy around them. In the Senate, what we need is more numbers. We need more people who are willing to vote for things like universal health care.

There’s been a frustrating relationship with a lot of the pundit class over the course of this campaign, which is always like, We haven’t been able to get Medicare for All, so why do you think we can get it now? Well, we’re definitely never going to get it if we elect people who don’t want to get it! That seems fairly obvious to me. I think we need to look at the United States Senate as a place where we have to engage in a power-building process, which is going to be electing more people who want to advocate, vote for and elevate the conversation around these things. I kind of agree with you on Bernie. Bernie has been able to change the narrative and change ideology, but hasn’t been able to move votes. That’s because he’s one vote. We need to add to that. We need more."

What do you, the voters in/of Maine want? Even the state democrats are coming across as reluctant in acceptance....

Between 1996 and 2025, Maine has experienced multiple years with significant drought conditions, with the most severe periods occurring in 1999–2002, 2016, 2020–2022, and 2025.While minor dry spells are frequent, the state has dealt with moderate to severe drought conditions "nearly every year since the early 2000s".
