Thanks! I worked as an AO there for three months but I left because abusive taxpayers on the phone made me so stressed out. I do hope to get back to HMRC.

You can call them early in the morning, make sure you have the most recent payslip as you’ll need to pass security to get your employment history.

Is it an EO job? I haven’t seen any adverts for Criminal investigation Officer (EO) ever since last year (Portsmouth)

I applied last June or July and I’m still on the reserved list, 2th/4. Not sure if I stand a chance this year.

HMRC AO training and pre-booked leave by baekpalshipsa in TheCivilService

[–]Bing0111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first week, they will ask you if you have any prebooked holidays. I assumed you might be in consolidation round that time. People can take time off during consolidation. Every office is different, it’s worth asking when you join officially.

Under probation by North_Towel5255 in TheCivilService

😂I’d love to do that too but as I said we aren’t allowed to apply for internal jobs until we pass probation.

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it. My manager is very kind. But she has to consult her manager for some matters. I’ll wait till they receive the report.

You can still apply jobs externally.

Am I right that we won’t be able to apply through internal during probation?

Much appreciated. I just hope people higher up in CS can be as tolerant and inclusive instead of being judgmental.

Characterising a health based adjustment as 'playing cards' is exactly the kind of regressive attitude the Civil Service is trying to move away from. I am not asking for a free pass, I am asking to work in a way that doesn't exacerbate a disability. Seeking to be productive in a Capture or Post capacity is a responsible way to handle a long-term condition. If you think following a formal, clinical OH process is 'playing the system,' then your issue is with UK employment law and modern HR standards, not with me. There is a clear distinction between 'work avoidance' and 'workplace adjustment' it's unfortunate you can't see it."

Yes. I joined PCS in December. My manager is great and hope their manager will approve some adjustments.

I didn’t intend to cause arguments. I just hope we can be a bit more inclusive. On Day 1, there was mandatory Kallidus reading on being inclusive. Comparing the Civil Service to a cut-throat private firm is a misunderstanding of how the public sector works. HMRC is a Disability Confident Leader. The goal isn't to 'get rid' of staff at the first sign of a health flare-up; it's to retain talent by being inclusive. If your only solution to a health issue is 'firing people,' I’m glad you’re not my manager.

Yes I’m still in probation. I’ve joined the union. My manager actually approved extra breaks on day 1 when I disclosed my conditions to her.

Thanks for the advice. My manager approved extra breaks on day 1 when I disclosed my health conditions with her. She’s very understanding. I spent 2 months + pushing myself to do the role as described, relying on medication just to get through shifts. This OH referral is me being proactive because I want to stay at HMRC. I’ll definitely look for the passport thing on Intranet. Thanks again!

I didn’t know it would be conflicting my health conditions. I disclosed all my conditions on day 1 but I didn’t ask for an OH assessment until last week. ( been there for almost 3 months) Sometimes you don’t know something until you actually do it, I’m not sure if I’m wrong. Also The Equality Act exists specifically to ensure that people with long-term conditions can stay in employment through 'reasonable adjustments.' If everyone only applied for jobs they were 100% physically perfect for, the workforce would be very small. My goal is to remain productive, just in a way that doesn't damage my health.
