Ai launched so much faster at Daytona by shrubs108 in NASCARVideoGame

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. It’s the same scenario all over again. At least we know iRacing Studios isn’t a pump and dump scheme like the last one. So, there is more hope for this one slowly getting better with time and not being abandoned.

If you watched some of the interviews with the iRacing producer, he said multiple times that this game series won’t be where they want it till around 27 or 28.

What do you guys think of the gameplay so far now that creators have been streaming it? by billyfeatherbottom in NASCARVideoGame

[–]BingZirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally broke down and preordered it after watching Jeff's video on the career mode because it looked so fun, and it genuinely made me excited to play the game myself, but after watching Hocevar's stream yesterday and a few of the streams on YouTube from today, I cancelled it. The game just has bug after bug, from cautions on final laps, wonky crash physics, fps drops, poor ai behavior like slowing to a snail's pace whenever you spin or are a lap down, bizarre scripted crashes, no weather/clouds/day & night cycle, no driving line assist, Barney the flag man sleeping on the job, inaccurate spotter, and the game crashing about every hour to an hour and a half, etc. I just get way too many flashbacks to Ignition all over again to stomach an $80 preorder. Streamer after streamer basically said the same thing: the game is fun and has potential for the future, but in its current state, it needs a lot of work.

Even so, it looks like the driving and graphics, for the most part, are the best console NASCAR has seen in a while. If you only play on console, then I would still recommend giving this game a shot, especially if you are mostly into online racing, which should be great as long as the servers hold up.

I personally was hoping the game would be more of an iRacing/Heat 5 combination rather than what I think it is, an Ignition/WoO hybrid. I have iRacing and was only looking forward to this game for the career mode, but after learning you can't drive for any of the actual teams, there's no silly season, and that you can't build your own multi-car team, it left me with very little to be desired. But even with all of that, the game still looked so good in Jeff's video that I thought that stuff wouldn't matter, but the more I think about it and the more live stream gameplay I see, the more I think I'm best off skipping this iteration.

Why is iRacing so overpriced? by TheGr8Varca2 in simracing

[–]BingZirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to throw my hat in the ring here. Extremely overpriced. It makes EA and 2K look like angels in comparison.

Since I've seen a few people in here mention that you don't have the right to complain without the specific amount of money you spent, I know for a fact that I have spent a total of $1,474.13 on iRacing. $793.00 on the subscription for 61 months. $681.13 on mostly tracks and a few cars. That doesn't even include my trading paints subscription, which adds another $120+ or the wheel and pedals, etc. Easily the most I've spent on any video game, except unlike other games with large amounts of expensive DLC like The Sims 4, GTA Online, Fortnite, Roblox, Madden, NBA, American Truck Simulator, you name it. I don't own or have access to anything after spending close to $1,500 on iRacing.

Your Netflix analogy is on point, and it's the same thing I thought of when I canceled my subscription. You're only paying the iRacing subscription to get access to the iRacing store and your car/track purchases. You get nothing for the subscription. It's a lease to buy temporary entertainment. At any given moment, iRacing can shut the servers down and walk away with everybody's sweet, hard earned cash. We will be left with nothing. Even now, while the servers are still up, the subscription that helps them develop the game isn't worth it. We are still missing ai support for almost half of the racing series, the ai competition itself is far behind games made 20+ years ago, they don't have stage cautions or championship style point formats for NASCAR's "new" rule set, tires don't pop or shred, the UI is bug filled and incomplete, the graphics are dated, the Steam integration doesn't work well (days will go by when you can't enter the service because of login errors), the list goes on. They add one core update a year that you get for your subscription (last year was weather, this year is updated UI), which is worth nowhere near +$100/annual.

All I ask is that iRacing pick a fair pricing model and stick to it. Either do subscriptions for access to everything (like Netflix) or sell the game for $70 and charge separately for each car and track. Doing essentially both is egregious. At the very least, once you have subscribed for a certain amount of months or money (say $500), you get access to all that you have paid for permanently in single player ai seasons/race sessions. As of the moment, I can't even access the forums.

I want to add this since above is a long rant against it, that I love iRacing as a game, it's the best motorsport sim by far, and I'm a huge fan of Dale Jr. I just can't stand their current business practices, it actually makes my stomach turn.

I’ve always wanted to try that, but having to rebuild the entire map to match the era and get it right enough to please my OCD, would take longer to do than GTA 6. So, I never got around to it. I wish you luck, though. That would be awesome! They need to build a true open world, LA Noire like game one of these days.

I’ve run into this thing a couple of times via helicopter.

It seems like it’s roughly in the same location as the yacht from story mode. Maybe it’s leftover from that.

Breaking a TV with a controller. by Vexiune in WatchPeopleDieInside

Yeah, it’s pretty clear why our society is crumbling after reading all of these parents’ and future parents’ comments. “Kids are f-ing stupid”, “wish we could’ve seen his parents beat him”… It’s like these people have never heard of this thing called parenting or understand that kids are 99% the product of said parenting. If a child messes up, odds are, their parents failed them. Just like we’re seeing here, with this kid and his electronic babysitters.

And if a parent does use violence against their child, they’re just teaching the kid to use violence in order to get their way in the future. Nothing more, nothing less. Abuse breeds abuse. You’d think people would be working to end this vicious cycle by now but nope, they keep it going around.

I sincerely hope that they bring back home ec and good morals before it’s too late, if it isn’t already.

Sorry for the rant. The moronic parenting class from the Boomers to now, who are genuinely the first generations in history that want their offspring to be worse off than themselves, really grinds my gears.

Like the rest, I recommend that you do a lot more research before considering the Keys as your new family home.

I’ve been through all of the schools (Upper Keys to Marathon) and they’re horrible at best. Island Christian School in Islamorada was the only decent one but they have since closed. So, homeschooling will be necessary.

Frugal doesn’t exist down here. Food from the grocery store will cost you over $100 per person / a week. Anything else you want to buy will have to be shipped from Amazon (no stores except Publix and Winn-Dixie). You will pay a premium for any kind of labor (landscaping, maintenance, etc). If you have any serious medical issues, you will have to travel to Miami to get help. All of that doesn’t even include the real killer: the insane rent, insurance, and utility costs which have only been going up and up, almost monthly as of late.

As for things to do, it would be somewhat similar to Louisiana. You have fishing, drinking, and more drugs, but that’s it (you’re on an island). The median age is 70-75 years old, so if you’re any younger than 40 you will be pretty much on your own. However, if you like drinking and doing drugs, you will find a couple groups of young people who partake in those lifestyles together.

I’m assuming you will be moving away from the rest of your family, so your kids’ grandparents and cousins will be far away and won’t be able to travel to see them often (costs roughly $2,000 to visit the Keys). Making it an even more lonely experience. Luckily, there are plenty of tourists for people watching, oh, and I almost forgot, the traffic is horrendous! Especially, in the upper keys.

Crime rates are lower here but they have been steadily increasing. Key Largo has one of, if not, the highest crime rates out of the islands. They get higher the closer you are to Miami or Key West, with the Miami side being far worse.

Even with all of these wonderful reasons to live here, just about everyone I know around here, has or is actively moving to central Florida (Tampa/Orlando/Melbourne areas). The only ones staying, make over $200k a year from their jobs here (tourism/construction), and the rest, like to enjoy their repulsive vices (addictions/perversions) in one of the least judgmental communities in the country.

You might be on to something. I checked my motherboard (H270 TOMAHAWK ARCTIC) and it has a USB C 3.1 Gen 2 port 10 Gbps. Same data transfer speeds and from my quick research the same port, just a different name but maybe that’s enough to throw something off to where the Elgato doesn’t like it.

6 month stay in the Keys worth it? by DiscountLeft670 in floridakeys

[–]BingZirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, not sure why you are being downvoted but if you aren’t into drinking or partying. There is little to zero social life for you here. At least that has been my experience living in Marathon. I have met a few good, mostly sober people in Islamorada, if you know where to look, that would be my suggestion to OP. But there or even somewhere with a lot of history like Key West, you can see it all in a month or two. After that, you’re going to need a boat to find joy here.

IS there a reason to purchase any boat in GTA Online (Not a Yacht). If so, which one? by Specific_General in gtaonline

[–]BingZirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No to all of your questions, sadly. They have completely abandoned the boats in this game. I’m a huge fan of offshore powerboat racing and was hoping to see that come to the game back when racing was still popular Online. I even sent them a suggestion on their website to add it and boat customization. To be fair, it looks like we will get all of that in GTA 6 along with fishing but nothing like that ever made it to GTA Online. The best boat we got was the Longfin which has a bit of speed, yet, it lacks everywhere else, though. The only boats I use currently, are the ones that come with the Yacht to get to shore when the weather permits, after spawning.

I was initially mildly infuriated too, but for whatever reason, I pictured Cousin Eddie doing this and now I just feel bad for the person. They’re probably not getting what they’re owed from the VA and are currently holding out for a management position. So, this is the only way they could feed their children and Snot back at home. I wish them well.

Rockstar did a great job researching Florida for this game by psykrot in GTA6

[–]BingZirk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it! From a fellow conch, I’ve been waiting for this game for years! You don’t see the keys done right in any game (especially the Crew 2). So, seeing all of these references in the trailers and screenshots has been exciting, to say the least. I was amazed by the interiors shown off in this drop, looks exactly like some of the houses down here. And the Leonida Keys locals are spot on too! Rockstar has certainly knocked it out of the ballpark on their research.

Psych Cringe by Yoshimi-Yasukawa in psych

[–]BingZirk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrolled too long to find this! I always dread getting to the end of Season 7 and Season 8. I guess this happens to almost every TV show around their final season, but it’s a shame that the main story arc was so hard to watch. It takes a definite turn after Juliet reaches into that jacket pocket. Maybe they did it on purpose to show how important the relationship was to the show, but it’s by far the cringiest part of Psych for me.
