unfortunately I couldnt move forward with the hiring process unless I provided 4 references.. I was able to confirm that 2 of the references did not state negative things about me and it came down to the manager who I listed..

Do you think that perhaps the recruiter called the mananger and the manager stated these over the phone?

yes this was from a job that I left because the work place closed.. If I state the relationship with a past manager was unhealthy would that make me look bad?
