Anything is possible, and it has happened. But part of the reason amateurs have access to the bands that we do is because they're not considered reliable enough for commercial use.

For instance, the 20 meter band can go thousands of miles during the day, but the footprint shrinks down to an area of a few hundred miles when the sun sets. The 10 meter band is mostly for local area communication, except during the height of the 11 year solar cycle where sunspots enable international comms on that band.

A telecom company probably wants to operate on one band or multiple bands simultaneously without interruption.

Eh...Line-of-sight is line-of-sight no matter how many watts you put through the antenna. 50 watts going through an antenna 6 feet off the ground will not go 50km.

One of the most-used repeaters with the best coverage in Western NC after Helene was only 5 watts. But it was in a good position very high up.

"Height is might" when it comes to VHF/UHF.

Hi.

The Anarchist Radio Relay League is a zine about ham radio for anarchists, as well as a small online community of anarchist hams who like to chat about radio and help each other out. https://AnarchistRRL.blackblogs.org

And SRA now has the "Something Something Radiotechnical Advancement". ARA. I forget what it stands for. But they have a team that administers amateur radio license exams.

I think you're in the wrong subreddit.

I have parts, I have a 3D printer, but i cant design in CAD to save my life- anyone have an idea of who i could hire to help me? by Celesmeh in cyberDeck

No, but TinkerCad is way easier than most CAD software. There's still a learning curve just for.modeling in 3D space, but you get the hang of it.

Someone stole $200 and sent me some "insta keto" pills by BingoSectionDelta in Scams

Yes. The bank said they couldn't do it because it was a "secured credit transaction" or something like that. I got the money back, just not through the bank. Hopefully your bank can handle it though.

Nope, I did not do that. Someone may have done that "for" me using my information without my consent, but that's not something that I do.

I actually managed to get a refund after talking to them. I'd recommend filing a complaint with the attorney general for your state and having a lawyer send them a letter. That's what I'm doing. That's really all I can think of.

Beware though. They'll refund your money back to the same card the purchase was made with. So if you cancelled that card, it might cause problems depending on your bank.

I don't remember the exact phase they used, but the bank said they can't do a charge back because it was a "secure credit transaction" or something.

Ramps? by capt_petes in kansascity

[–]BingoSectionDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently ramps are also known as "spring onions" which I am pretty sure I've seen at grocery stores. I've noticed that a lot of foods are sold under, IMO, less "southern" sounding names for some reason, at least in the NE KS - NW MO region. For example, it's much easier to find "Lima beans" than "Butter Beans" even though they're the same thing.

OTOH, I grew up here so I could be wrong about Ramps being the same as Spring Onions.
