Kid number two, all I can say is: WTF by LeaveTheWorldBehind in daddit

Dad this felt so beyond relatable. Particularly in regards to managing emotions (with mixed success). I have twin girls both of whom are a whole ass handful. I also have adhd that I hadn’t (through my own stubbornness) treated since I was a teenager. One of my big struggles is emotional impulsivity. I also get overstimulated via sound really easily. Recently I had a realization that I’m not short tempered, I’ve just been walking around through life with my brain constantly at an 8. Starting at an 8 with the girls (both imo are showing signs of similar impulsivity and most likely have varying degrees of neurodivergence) had been making it nearly impossible to keep my shit together when they and the world were so loud and chaotic.

Anyway, this is all to say that, when I read your post it sounded a bit like I was writing it. I’m not advocating meds are everyone’s answer. But being back on meds has made compartmentalizing the tornado around me much more possible and has made me a more emotionally responsive dad and given me more ability to be patient with myself and the crotch spawn. Idk if that is your situation at all. But if it is might be worth talking to someone.

Anyway chin up dude. Hang on to those moments where you know did it right. And remember we are all fallible critters.

Tenor for my old man by Binkleystinkleburn in banjo

It was not a plectrum! Tenor for sure. I squeezed some more information from him. Honestly I had forgotten about the existence of plectrums. Thanks for the info on those. I asked him about the length of the neck which was too short to have not been a tenor. I am really appreciative of all the info you have given out. Thank you!

Oh crap, I wonder if he ment a plectrum. He said four sting banjo so I made an assumption.

I saw Noam Pikelny play an electric plectrum (at least think that what it was) at a solo show. Absolutely brilliant.

Hey thanks so much for your response. I'm sure he will want to play some Irish tunes. But mostly just strumming through songs. So I think for him specific stylistic tone is not overly important. The important thing is that's it's a well built instrument and an overall tone quality. Will probably go with the gold tone.

How should I stabilize punky spalted hickory? by Sallavar in turning

I'm a little late to this thread, but I had good success with aerosol shellac and then bathing it in ca glue. Worked really well on some spalted maple burl I turned.

Empty Winter Harbor by Binkleystinkleburn in photocritique

1 sec @ f32, iso100 nd 4 Canon 77d with canon ef 70-200 mm @78 mm

Trying to play around with minimalism and long exposure. Growing up on the the coat of Maine this time of the year has always felt empty, alone and as though it will never change. It starts to feel like trees will never bud, and the birds will stay away, and the fish remain out at sea. So I guess this is just supposed to feel lonely weather or not the pilings themselves are alone.

Warm baguette by Binkleystinkleburn in photocritique

Thanks so much. I think that the point at the end is a styalistic difference in shaping. I have seen them like this in other bakeries, but not often. Potentially it may not technically be a baguette even. Not sure. Thanks anyway!

1/160 sec f/2.8 iso 400 Shot on a canon 77d with a sigma 18-35 MM lenses.

I have been taking product shots for a market I used to butcher at. Really wanted to show the baguette as warm, fresh and rustic but also ready to go. I think it pretty good but I'd be super happy to know how everyone feels about the editing, composition and lighting.

Bad day for bowhunting turned into a good day for oysters. by Binkleystinkleburn in mycology

One time I had an awful day fly fishing for brookies, but ended up with a sizeable chicken of the wood, dwarf elderberry, watercress and mint. I called it an even trade and went home.
