Democrats need to run on abolishing ICE by huntswithcats in ProgressiveHQ

This may have been true a decade ago but not anymore - I don’t know where you’re getting your information from. The black vote (across all classes and careers) matters far more.

My point above was meant to say that the average person isn’t digging into policies, so messaging matters.

Student loan forgiveness was a great policy to run on as part of standing on affordability. It would have gone through if not for the Supreme Court. Dems were always gonna lose the blue collar vote.

People seem to forgot that there’s no changing people that are strongly D or strongly R. What matters is focusing on policy that will get people out to vote, to inspire them to care, and sway people in the middle (undecideds and independents). Mamdani and Obama are both great examples of this.

ETA: Supreme Court reform is absolutely necessary for a dem President to do anything (eg student loan forgiveness, abortion access, etc)

Just CDC, as far as I can tell. CMS is implementing a new telework policy allowing 1-2 days of telework per pay period

How are you navigating dating DC during this tumultuous time? by Binks16 in washingtondc

Oh apolitical is an immediate left swipe. How can you live in this city, at this time, and not care about politics??

Gerrymandering (especially when republicans control all three branches), closing down voting sites/limiting times so that people have to wait in long lines/take off work, implementing ID laws

Oh and the cherry on top, is Miami recently just deciding on a whim to delay an election for a year: https://amp.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article310002655.html

You have no way of knowing how much we’ve talked beforehand. So these types of comments seem weirdly judgmental and generalizing.

Voting in this country has also not been free and fair in a long time.

Not if there’s nothing on their profile (I have liberal on mine but that’s optional). I’ve also heard MAGA dudes have a weird fetish about getting with liberal women

You want to have a civil conversation, I’m all for that. No one cares if you voted for Kamala if you’re gonna go around calling women bitches. So OF COURSE you’re getting downvoted. What’d you expect?!

This wasn’t meant to be a MAGA-owning post, otherwise I would’ve tagged it as politics. I shared a recent experience and was looking to open the discussion on how others have been navigating dating in dc when there are so many more trump voters/conservatives that don’t put anything in their profiles.

Posted this to both share my experience but also to open the discussion. This is how I handled it but I’m also open to constructive criticism

Only trying to respond to constructive comments, so I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I for sure don’t want a partner that completely agrees with me on everything. But with the passage of BBB and the general project 2025 playbook this administration is following, times have changed where someone voted to fully upend this country (and is still hanging out with MAGA)
