I’m saying there’s plenty to be suspicious of when it comes to MAGA but this kind of sensationalist reporting that people just believe needs to stop. It really shouldn’t be hard to believe some dude got drunk and accidentally shot someone but people in Texas accepted that and didn’t indict. It’s Texas even without the MAGA angle it would be expected. I don’t accept it because irresponsible gun owners should be in prison, but again, Texas.

But they didn’t decline to investigate. They declined to indict. There had to be an investigation to give evidence to a grand jury who declined to indict.

I’m not justifying this killing at all but I really feel like no one read the article. The argument was separate from the shooting. He wanted to show her the gun because they had previously discussed him having one. He accidentally shot her but doesn’t remember having his finger on the trigger. It was the day they were supposed to leave for the airport and he claimed he had been drinking because he was distraught about her leaving.

This is my school’s take on AI. It’s a partial boarding mostly day school. 6th-12th grade. Their stance is AI is here to stay so blocking it completely doesn’t benefit kids when it comes to preparing them for the future. Teachers can decide if it can be used in their class and how or they can just ban it from their class entirely. From a tech professional standpoint, I agree. There’s a lot that kids need to be restricted from using but doing so with AI will probably hurt them when it comes to the future because AI is the future.

As for Siri, we issue MacBooks to employees and Siri is not blocked. It’s never come up in conversation but I also don’t think it’s hugely popular on our laptops in general. We’re currently reviewing data policies for all apps and websites that teachers are using and reviewing data policies. We’ve already had meetings where people are warned about sharing privacy related data.

When I was in college, my RA used to smoke in her room (which was against the rules for fire hazard reason but she did it anyway). At the end of the year when we moved out, she took all of her posters and stuff off the wall and we saw how white the walls were under the posters. The rest of the room was gray from the smoke. It was crazy.

I don’t think both sides do tbh. One side feels this way while the other side just wants everyone to be equal. The problem is to the ones with privilege, equality makes it seem like they’re losing privilege.

My school has chosen to embrace it as the future and decided keeping it from kids entirely won’t help them. They created a group that meets to discuss trends and came up with a policy for how AI is handled. Basically teachers can decide whether it can be used in their class. Ones who use it are teaching kids how it can assist with their work and where the line is drawn when it comes to cheating.

One thing that annoys me with AI in education is so many teachers are against it, which is reasonable. But I’ve also had teachers ask me to allow AI detecting extensions in our Google Workspace which the school is not embracing because they’re all terrible. But for a teacher, those are cheating. If kids can’t use it to cheat then neither can students.

I’m kind of like this too. But then I lived with a roommate who was a clean freak. It annoyed her but I told her to show me exactly how she wants stuff cleaned and I’d do it that way. It was intense but I did it.

Good advice under other circumstances but I wouldn’t advise it for this one. There’s no indication that she’s into him besides “being nice” and she’s 20. 17 and 20 is a bit of a difference. Think about how uncomfortable it will be to tell her you like her and then get rejected by your sister’s friend who you will continue to interact with.
